Cleat position

I have been using clipless shoes for a while. I have always had the cleat in the up most position for the last few years but have noticed the in feel most of the burn in my calfs. So last year I put them in the rear most position(not mid foot). I feel more burn in the thighs now. My question is where exactly am I suppost to place this thing. I feel that in the rear most position I'm using more of the leg but in the foward most position (if this makes sense) have more power, especially going up hill.

I figure that I would ask here before I bother my LBS, I'm sure he is busy getting ready for the season and all

the LBS is there for you to bother but this is much easier 🙂
generally place it under the ball of our foot. And what you experienced is true. Depending on where you move it different muscles will be used more. Forward, calves. Rearward, hamstrings. Start under the ball of your foot and move it mm at a time. Get it to where you are comfortable and one muslce group doesn't fatigue quickly.
