Cheapest SPD clipless pedals?

Looking for a cheapie set of SPD clipless pedals for the SS I built up, plus a pair of cleats. What's the cheapest reasonable set of pedals and do pedals usually come with cleats? I found this:

Seems basic/standard and a reasonable price. But then of course Ebay:

Same thing, no cleats, about $30 after shipping.

Best cleats I found were $18 on Nashbar.

norm, i think i have shimano 525s. they were like $55 new. they take a beating and i didn't think that $55 was expensive.

but...used from ebay is also a great deal.
 
I really like the Crank Bros egg beater-based pedals. The original egg beaters are likely pretty cheap no, probably around $30 in some of the sales - try pricepoint.com.

I've got Candy Cs and love 'em - egg beaters with a platform so that you don't have to be clicked-in to put power to the pedals...

I can match or beat Nashbar on this and most other stuff. Excluding special sales of course..

The only bummer is that I have to charge tax so the discount is a wash..

How about free. No cheats for you but I have a pair of Shimano downhill pedals I'll give you. They're a little heavy but will work just fine for your SS. These are them:

If not try & find a set of Shimano 520's, a decent pedal for not a lot of money (see Ebay listings).

I've been kicking (or should I say pedaling?) a pair of nashbar atb pedals (model NR-PDL) for about 2000 miles on both of my mountain bikes without a single problem, still no slop in the bearings. They're made by wellgo. They're hard to beat for the money.

you should consider these

I have them on my road-going bike and they're functionally similar to 520's and up (don't know what it's all about in the reviews there...).

The main difference is that you can rebuild these, as opposed to the 520 which have weak bearings and the plastic retainers make them impossible to rebuild.

Good deal on the 505s. One of the Ebay links from Kirt above is a set of 505s with cleats. Currently no bids, and overall price (with shipping) of about $20.

You might want to consider those combo SPD/flat pedals. I got them for my SS because getting clipped in on a hill on an SS if much more critical than on a geared bike. You use a lot more force getting started on an SS then a geared bike. The flat portion of the pedal gives you a little more base to push hard on if you can't get clipped in right away.

I got them from Nashbar for $35 (Nashbar Multi-Purpose Platform Sport Pedal) and it was a good choice for me. I run regular SPD's on my geared bikes.
 
Time!

TIME pedals are my fav's. They are simple and super durable. Big enough platform even if you aren't clicked in. Sheds mud as deep as the 12 hours of Deer Park and doesn't click out if you "step" on an obstacle. (Egg Beaters do)

this is the feature i hate the most about my crank bros.... i'm a former trials rider, and i use my pedals for just that purpose on really technical trails, bigger log crossings. time's might be in my future.
 
To close this chapter in Norm's Shopping World, I went with the 520s from an Ebay source, "buy it now" option. $40 included cleats and free shipping. At Nashbar it was $45, no cleats, plus $7 shipping. They were probably used in a robbery or something but whatever.
 
You've get to love eBay for its ability to offload swag!
