Car issue and suggestions needed

Hey all. I’ve had my Kia Telluride for 4 years now and it’s been a great car for the most part. Reliability and drivability are great. I’m not a big fan of Kia though at the moment. I’ve had a simple issue with a door checker. You know, that thing that keeps the door open while you get stuff out. Where it mounts to the door broke. I brought it to the shop while it was still under warranty, and now 9 months later they deem it’s magically my fault and they won’t cover it. I’ve gotten to the point where I have threatened legal action and now they have escalated my claim and probably still won’t do anything. I have heard of others with a similar issue online and they have been fixed but somehow mine is my fault - without any evidence of wrongdoing in my part.

So now I’m thinking of getting out and selling or trading this thing in. First things first. Doesn’t anyone have any experience with a dealership like this? Am I just f’d or do I keep pressing and something may actually get fixed? I’m not hiring a lawyer but it’s fun to threaten. Is this a good time to trade in and get something else? I’ve always wanted a full size pickup and this may be my chance. Thoughts?

Most car manufacturers have allocated money for customer satisfaction. I can believe they won't take care of it . Especially if you have a prior complaint

Call Kia Customer service
Are dealer Audi has paid for engines with that money

Kia customer service got involved after months of the dealer not contacting me. They were the ones that told me that the issue was my fault.

I’ve heard Kia sucks when it comes to issues like this. Maybe try another dealer? Did they say how much it would cost?

I can confirm. The door started creaking like 2 years in. It finally broke and I went in for service and started this train of bs. I assume since I got Kia customer service involved another dealer won’t be able to do anything.

Find some Kia executives email address and ask them for help. That shit happens at my company all the time. Post about this on their Facebook and X pages too.

Is the door itself damaged of just the check? The check is usually not that big a deal to replace and maybe not worth the hassle. If the door itself is the issue that’s very costly and definitely something you don’t want to pay for. Is this a common issue, like have you looked at forums for others having the same issue?

The creek was the bolts coming loose which caused a misalignment, then it broke.

My son's was on the edge of breaking, buy caught it.

Like Dave said, if it is just a couple bolts and a pin, should be easy.

The mount on the door shell is the problem. Costly and the douches at Kia don’t want to fix.

Can’t post a pic it’s inside the door shell. I keep asking the dealership for proof that it was my error and no luck. Show me I f*cked it up somehow and I’ll drop it. I know I didn’t.

Are there screws at the entrance?
post a pic where the index enters the door?

There’s screws on the frame of the car but the checker goes into the door frame and can’t see anything further inside. Had to take it to a body shop to disassemble the door to see further bit of course they don’t share any of the pics/damage.

Kia’s have come a long way. Maybe not far enough…

My wife had a 2013 Hyundai it was cosmetically a dumpster fire. And the driveline wasn't great either but to it's credit never left her stranded in 130k miles before the rear main seal gave out

I had a 2011 Kia Soul previously that was basic but amazing. This 2021 telluride is light years ahead of that hamster mobile.

My wife had a mid 80's Hyundai Excel that she parked on the streets of Brooklyn for a year. Talk about a cosmetic mess.

Did the body shop give you a quote or indication of what’s needed?
