Yes, but you climb the DHs, don't you?I always have fun there, I don't jump any of the jumps. There are tons of little drops and wood things to ride on that are enough fun to make the trip worth it.

FTFYYes, but you climb the drops, don't you?
Go with friends.
Peer pressure will make you do dumb shit lol
Nah... green and blue aren't that bad. You will have fun.
Did you ride in the same car or argued about politics over the phone all the way up to Creek?I went once with old man @thegock - four years ago about this time actually. After my brakes burst into flames and I crashed, cracking a rib or two, we bolted. Never went back and have zero desire to do so!
You're not supposed to take a road bike!

My first time up there, rented a DH bike with Deore brakes. They did fine.I used my Horsethief - that was a mistake

The reminder, I took my Hightower with Guide R brakes and they did fine too.
Not sure why your brakes would overheat. My tires on the other hand... was a different matter.
Resin pads don’t stand a chance up there lolI have toasted my rear brake a few times I went, the first was resin pads so no surprise with that the second time was pretty new brakes and I think I may have been dragging brake unknowingly. Also had resin only discs that had an issue.
That's exactly why now I'm thinking I should go by myself first lol!Go with friends.

that is exactly what I learned on my first trip up, no lines and by my 4th or 5th run everything was glazing or melted away. Just the rears so I was able to continue, plus I am a specialist at riding with no working brakes.Resin pads don’t stand a chance up there lol
I am hoping to go next Thursday with a possible group if you wanted to join, I have only been 3 times prior and ride a hardtail up there. Last trip @EJphotos joined me for the first time and it was a pretty good time. That's exactly why now I'm thinking I should go by myself first lol!
I assume he means the flow trails. And when he says "too advanced" I think he means "laid out like a drunk sailor." Just a guess though.
For some reason, I have been on blues up there, and then all of a sudden I am on a black and very scared!Go with friends.

Oh no... you could make a wrong turn and end up on a 10' drop! That's exactly why now I'm thinking I should go by myself first lol!
You'll be better off going with someone who knows the trails well enough to take you on stuff that's not over your head. They can tow you into stuff at a reasonable speed, and show you the best lines. Once you start migrating off Greenhorn, It can be easy to get onto trails that might be over your pay grade, without someone who knows their way around. I'd be willing to show you the ropes up there if you're game. I should be joining @BPaze and crew again next week. The weekdays are better for beginners if you can swing it.That's exactly why now I'm thinking I should go by myself first lol!
Good times, doe. Having an Oktoberfest in the sun at the bar and seeing the family of bears 88 yards away on the old Great Gorge south side. After a few hours, my forearms were tingling.I went once with old man @thegock - four years ago about this time actually. After my brakes burst into flames and I crashed, cracking a rib or two, we bolted. Never went back and have zero desire to do so!
ahh very good point... I take it a place like this is where you wouldn't want to accidently cross over onto a wrong trail! lol!!!!Oh no... you could make a wrong turn and end up on a 10' drop!
Prolly best to go with someone who knows the trails.
