Camper/RV rentals?

Planning a trip out west to visit friends in Idaho and Montana this summer. Looking at renting small RV or camper van for four. We'll have some lodging but mostly be camping. Anyone done something similar that can make recommendations, do's/dont's on vehicle rentals?

Flying in and out of Boise or Salt Lake City. Been looking at owner rented vehicles on Outdoorsy and similar sites.

TIA

Some of them get crazy expensive, mileage fees add up at places like El monte, etc..

RVshare.com has good options around NJ. Was going to use last year, but was derailed by the corona.

Couple years ago, a few friends and I rented from here for a trip to New Hampshire from SJ. https://www.cruiseamerica.com/

Camper van like a Sprinter is going to be tight for 4, same for some Class C's. How friendly do you and your friends feel about doubling up in a bed?

The rental would be for my own family with another group towing a travel trailer. Loose plan has us on the road for two weeks going to Donnelly, ID > Whitefish, MT > Dark Star > Jackson, WY .
Wandervan may fit what we need for sleeping/traveling. With the other camper we'll have the cooking, creature comforts.
