Bub/Lou vs Bud/Bud

Matt_

I Get Jokes
In my fatbike searches I came across a built Moonlander that was running Bud's front & rear..... was thinking that's probably a good setup for NJ type of riding, no? :hmmm:

I know the Lou is supposed to maximize traction in really soft conditions, but if you ride mainly Clayton/Allaire, the easier rolling Bud's still provide plenty of traction.....

I may or may not have won bidding on a 'new' 2013 Muk 2 (if you know me, don't say anything on FB or to the wife because its a surprise; combined 5 year anniversary gift). Both my wife & I are big into trucks/jeeps... so it's kind of fitting that we'd want to up the tire size to the 4.8's; one of the reasons I was targeting the 2013 Muk was for that capability.

So if I can sell the Nates, i'm thinking of going with Bud/Bud.

Thoughts?

[FYI i know about possible chain rub issues- going 1x10]

It's gonna be TIGHT!! Other than the Moonie I haven't been able to get the Bud or Lou to actually fit on anything. And, those tires are bit overkill for anything we have here in NJ, especially if you're riding hardpack. You'd be better off with a pair of 3.8 120 Larrys down there.

Oh I know it's going to be a tight fit. I've seen it done though with the alternators positioned correctly. The guy used spacers to keep his 2 gears up front but i'm going to 1x so not too worried there.

"Overkill" and "Better off" are subjective. I'm not a racer. I bike for fun (& exercise). I'll never be the fastest guy out there... and sometimes i'll be the slowest. Customizing stuff and fitting big tires is in my blood; so fitting 4.8s adds to the "fun" for me 😀

Did you have trouble fitting the 4.8s in the front or rear on a 13' Muk 2? Any specifics?

Bud/Bud will fit on a 2013 muk 2 on rolling d's. Derrick (owner of cycle haven here on Long Island) runs his this way set up as a 1x10. 2x10 will definitely rub.

Here is the pic: (black and purple muk)
