bootleg canyon

just read this blurb from Outside Mag

"Travel to Sin City is facing its biggest slump since 9/11: In the past year, Vegas merchants have seen a 6 percent drop in sales. What this means to you: Airfare is cheap and there will be fewer mtb'ers than normal in Bootleg Canyon, one of the countrys least apperciated playgournd. With custom built courses, miles of smooth, easy trails, and a 60-degree highs in February, it's the ideal late-winter riding destination. Thirty minutes south of Las Vegas, Boulder City's All Mountain Cyclery rents full sus rides (allmountaincyclery.com). Crash at Green Valley Ranch Resort, Spa, and Casino (doubles $200, greenvalleyranchresort.com). It's close to the trails and offers just enough vice for you to blow your airefare savings." -VG

:hmmm: sounds very tempting :hmmm:

that looks like killer fun. What is the camera set up? Bar of Helmet? It is very still

Its a go pro hero on a helmet.
we tried it today on handle bars and it didnt look as good. The clamp also broke mid ride causing the camera to go flying. Still works though, but i guess having it on the handlebars was too much stress for the plastic. Its very rocky here though so im sure it would be fine in smoother places. But I really think the helmet mount is the way to go. You look like a dork, but the footage is much better.

did I mention this place was insane? Seriously if anybody out there is reading this the thinking about a trip, i highly recommend bootleg canyon. There is a local shop (http://www.allmountaincyclery.com) and they totally took care of us with multiple repairs. They stayed late, and did repairs while we waited. Awesome guys. You can rent bikes from them too but I think in this terrain you really want the comfort of having your own wheels. Shipping our bikes out here UPS cost about 80 bucks and I assume it will cost the same or close going back.

Staying at the Mandalay Bay and eating at Smith & Wollensky every night isnt too bad either. :D

I read the same review. However Outside Mag is nuts with the hotel. There's so many cheap Vegas options. Me and GTLuke loved Bootleg Canyon a few weeks ago while out there. There is NOTHING like it around here.

I want to go back, although Luke is mentioning cheap tickets to Colorado/Moab....

I never did make it to Smith & Wollensky's. Can it really be worth $40something a steak?
