Finally got around to adding the trails that I spend the majority of time on. Exactly 1.12 miles from our front porch is a trailhead that gets me into miles and miles of great trails in the Allamuchy State Park. I rode here all last year and I still find something new every trip into these woods. Last April when I got into mountain biking I was told by a local at the bike shop, "if you can ride Allamuchy you can ride anywhere in the country." I have now discovered how right he was. I spent most of last year walking my bike on much of these trails and towards the end of the season I was riding more and more. There are still places that I have to get off and hike it but I'm really enjoying these trails for what they are.
Rocks, hills, rocks, roots, rocks, streams, and of course rocks, this is mountain biking on the East Coast.
The monument that makes me stop and think everytime I pass it, very inspiring.
Jefferson Lake off the Rail Trail.
There really are parts of the Highlands Trail are just unrideable, my first real good over the bars fall. I saw it coming and was able to get my hands out to break the fall before the rock got to my teeth but it still left a mark to let me know the trail won this round.
End of the day back at Cranberry Lake.
