2 + rain = 3
Thought I could beat the rain. I was wrong.
Thought the trails might be passable. Also wrong.
Still beats workin.

Took a ride up to High Mountain with low expectations and was correct in that it was a no go. Just wanted some type of destination as riding the road in the rain sucks. Things went fairly well until I was about a mile from home and all of a sudden Stans started gushing out of my rear tire. Not sure what sliced it as didn’t notice any debris on the road. Ended up stopping my Strava there and started a separate Strava session for my walk of shame home. Can hardly wait to get back to mountain biking.

i also realized that the 45nrth naughtvind pants, while easily the best cold weather riding pants i've ever owned, are not called naughtrain for a reason....they are decidedly NOT waterproof! but, if you're going to get wet, it might as well be your legs...
Yeah mine were semi-saturated/water beading except over my knee where I had a Copper Fit brace. Like there was a clear line where it started and stopped. Copper deflects water?

My brother and I rode bikes at Blankets Creek Trails. This is by far the coolest place I have ever ridden a bike. While hikers are allowed, we only saw two of them during the couple hours we were there. All the trails are directional based on the day of the week. The hikers go the opposite direction of bikes. They had natural trails with some tech, and several machine built trails. The trails here were marked better than I have ever seen. Anywhere there was a feature ahead there was a sign and all the features had a go around. It was dope AF. I know the politics are complicated and I’m not gonna get on my soapbox but this should be a model for building trails. I snapped a few pictures but not too many since it was 81º here and therefore the trails were packed so we kept it moving.

holy crap, was yesterday a soaker...i also realized that the 45nrth naughtvind pants, while easily the best cold weather riding pants i've ever owned, are not called naughtrain for a reason....they are decidedly NOT waterproof! but, if you're going to get wet, it might as well be your legs...

i also was sure to treat my shell and actual gore-tex pants with this stuff, after the ride...now it won't rain for another month!

Correct. Naughtvinds are not waterproof, they're designed for snow. I have a pair of Specialized Deflect H20 pants for rain that work well. I just ordered some Pearl WxB pants too because, it's the season...

And just like that, February is done and we only have 3 weeks left in BIYF 2020-2021!
Below are the leaders for February:
Piston Honda79.5
stb22274.5
jimvreeland62
pygmypony46
rick8172145

Since @Piston Honda won the January milestone, he is not eligible for any other monthly milestone, so @jimvreeland is the February winner. Since he doesn't want his own swag, he gets a Halters unicorn hat.

At the end, I will figure out how to distribute the remaining hats and stickers. A bunch of people will get stuff as I backfill people on the podium for milestones and the overall. At this point, someone really needs to put in a huge month to topple @Piston Honda, even if he stopped riding now.

Bonuses will return, I didn't do them during February, because February kinda sucked...

I came down with something Thursday night and didn’t feel well for a couple days. I probably could have gotten back in the saddle yesterday, but took another day off. Finished work early enough to actually get in a daylight ride, but the wind was picking up and didn’t want to go out and feel cold after feeling blah. So an hour on the trainer.

With the rapidly dropping temps, decided to see what core was up too after the melting. One of the loops is mostly good all the time so would ride that at a minimum. Said loop was frozen dirt on one side and frozen snow on the other side. Someone rode during the warmer days and left a shallow mud rut in the dirt and didn’t have such a fun time in the snowy spots, as their track showed a lot of weaving. Elsewhere in the park was good where there was minimal traffic in the snow and pure ice where the packed down snow was the last few weeks. Other than that rode out through some fields and was murdered by the wind and kinda JRA to cap the 2. Saw at least 6 newspapers at random spots in the road.
