Todays ride at snowballs chance was amazing until it wasn’t. Most of the day went well until I caught a slushy bridge and fell off it into the rocky stream below. Most likely knee reconstruction to follow. It’s been fun boys and girls.

Been indoors and sick the last 2 weeks since Sourlands ride. Working my way back on the new to me trainer bike made it less awful slightly very happy to have a dedicated bike for that again.

Today I had one of those days of “free time” to myself with no real time limit. I decided on an out and back loop which doesn’t require me to think much and zero chance of me getting lost or missing a turn. Since the gravel bike in road mode was up front that’s the bike I used today. Plus wasn’t sure roads would all be 100% clear of salt and grime so better to have wider tires and disc brakes.

Was expecting cold and calm but as I got going I was really struggling the first 15+ miles and realized I’d been riding into one of those just enough to be annoying headwinds. I almost turned around and went home at mile 18 but roughed it out to the planned turnaround. The 25+ miles back with a tailwind was glorious.

I hit 50 miles and decided it’s gonna be a metric. Then I started bonking a little since I didn’t really carb and hydrate enough the last few days for this kind of ride. I did bring some stroopwafels i had from the Sourlands ride they hit the spot.

Pushed through and got my metric. Needed the fitness boost I am so done with getting sick every month. Weather wasn’t bad for March but here comes the next storm. See you on zwift.

No pic no points.

Last BIYF ride of 2023 for me.

Staying home all week with on-going construction project and off to AZ for 10 days of biking on Saturday….

Thanks BIYF for motivating us all to keep pedaling thru what wound up being a ‘bike friendly’ winter. Studded tires never went unto the commuter bike this year. 👍👍
