Bike selection

If you had to choose, which bike would you pick? Trek Fuel EX 8 vs Specialized Stumpjumper (carbon). Both are on sale and same price at around $3,400. Type of riding isn’t that technical, but I would definitely like to do some techy rides eventually. I currently ride a Trek Roscoe 8 which I love my hard tail. Time to upgrade to full suspension. Trails I currently ride are 6 mile, Allaire, high ridge park (when open), Dickinson mine, and sometimes Trexler in PA. Tried Wildcat on my hardtail and I didn’t enjoy that ride to much. Felt like I needed a full suspension to enjoy it better.

I would ride both and see what fits better. My guess is it will be pretty close outside of fit and specs, go with whatever feels best!

Been talking to you on FB. Make it easy on yourself and go see Jay at Halter's, get fitted properly and walk out with a beautiful Pivot you'll love. He probably has a demo or two you could try. 6 mile literally around the corner. Good luck 👍

I would say none of the above….. transition has some great close out deals right now…..

I have a 2020 EX8 and love it. That said, my other FS (Cannondale) failed recently and since it was under warranty I consulted with the gent that sold it to me 12 years ago (@jdog ). Not only is Jason extremely knowledgeable (he can figure out the perfect size and fit for you by just looking at you!) but his shop has an incredible selection of bikes to choose from. Many of them are on sale now. Highly recommend you make the trip to see him. I plan to keep my EX8 but am now the proud owner of a Santa Cruz Hightower thanks to Jason. 👍👍. Jason also commits countless personal hours to trail building, maintenance and advocacy. If you’ve ridden 6 Mile Run, Chimney Rock, Stephens…these are examples of parks where he has done amazing work. All while holding down a busy shop and raising a family. 👍👍😁

I just found another pretty cool bike shop near my house in Montclair. Pedal Montclair bike shop. The owner was amazing and showed me a few pivot and Santa Cruz bikes. He was leaning more towards the pivot 429 trail bike for trails I currently ride. I’m just waiting for him to build a medium bike for me to demo. Just looking at the bike Pivot 429 trail seems to be a very good bike. Without test riding the pivot im now torn between stumpy, fuel ex and pivot 429. Hopefully I can ride the Pivot bike this week.

Pedal Montclair is a good shop from what i know. Trail 429s seems to be one of the most popular bikes in NJ.

Hopefully they have what you need on hand.

If they don't have stock of the model you are after, we have a Med Ride Gx/ X01 in green and a Race xt in silver in stock. Both are on sale.
