bike conversion

In the next year I'm planning to convert my 08 Scott Voltage 2 into a freeride bike that can handle Diablo freeride park. I know want a 2 chain ring crank with a e-thirteen bashguard, rock shox for, hayes or avid disc brakes, new wheels and tires and new shifters. I have a budget of about $1,500 dollars. My question about this are what would you reccomend parts wise, what order should I do it in, and is there anything else you think I should get. Thanks.

For $1500 bucks you can pick up a nice used DH bike that would need minimal work and you could have a specialized machine instead of a convert.

+2. It's not just the components that make for a good FR/DH bike - it's the geometry.

I would take the $1500 and buy a good used DH bike. Sell your Scott Volt and use the funds to do any upgrades to the DH bike. As stated before the geometry of the frame is important (head tube and seat tube angles, BB height, etc.) and you can only get that from a frame designed for DH riding.
