Palisades MTB was awarded the Hudson River Valley Greenway "Trails Grant" for the new Redback Trail in Sterling Forest.
.
With this grant and generous donations, we are getting close to achieving our fiscal goals to complete this trail at an unprecedented pace. We have enough funding to excavate rocky sections and build causeways over streams by machine, but we need your help now to complete those sections professionally. With the combination of a season of volunteer hours and your future contributions, our goal is to have this 3-mile trail ready to ride by late summer of 2025.
How can you help? Palisades MTB is a 501c(3) charitable organization registered as a New York State charity. Your contributions are tax-deductible and may be matched by your employer. Our EIN is 47-4214647. We also welcome contributions made through your DAF. Please contact us by email for details.

Construction begins Monday, October 21. That’s TOMORROW!!!

@Cannonbill as they say in power rangers (remembering this from my childhood, might need a YouTube refresher) “alrght guys, let’s bring em together. Megazord sequence has been initiated.”

Work was started, digging has commenced!!! The stream crossings are being built first. Work will continue next week on another crossing. As such the new trail is going to be built from the middle out to its junctions with the existing trail.

Last photo is the site last December, approximately the same spot as the second photo.

@MuniMan I rode over to the new stuff the other day. Pretty exciting. Now to figure out conceptually how I am looping all this together. I figure eight the last new section so I hit all of it. Looks like a second figure eight or maybe just a loop and a half might be necessary. I ride in from the topside of long meadow or down from ryerson.

Looking at the Marji Gesick route, I was wondering if we could link 100 miles across the top half of the state like they do. Obviously some road involved.

I have seen some long term plans that include connection of Ringwood and Sterling to Jungle through Sterling/Tranquility forest. Connecting Ramapo, Ringwood, Sterling, Tranquility, and Jungle should be getting pretty close to that number.

I am waiting for the day of the connection to jungle. Would be awesome. I already climb up to skyline, then drop back into ringwood and to sterling Pretty good ride.
