i tried to think of a way to post these in the winter photos thread, but there's just too many, and i didn't want that thread to end up becoming a 'sean's alaska trip thread. so here they are, little by little.

i think it has less to do with photography skills than the sheer magnitude of beauty that exists up there. it's just everywhere you look. you look north, east or west from just about any street in downtown anchorage, and you'll see gorgeous mountains between the buildings. it's my new favorite place in the world.

One of my best friends from college lives in Anchorage. She, like myself, grew up in Oregon...which is no slouch in the scenery department either. Anyway, she hadn't lived in Anchorage more than a week when she told me that she will *never* move back to the lower 48.

What really amazes me is that she was never the "outdoorsy" type--stereotypical sorority girl. Her fiance', who is a dentist, had a great opportunity up there so she begrudgingly went...16 years, four kids, and a float plane later, she has never looked back.

I have always thought that it'd be cool to pay her a visit w/bike in tow...
