27.5 tube question

I'm on a 27.5+ bike and currently tubeless... I'm trying to minimize what I carry, to go backless and recently picked up a Speedsleev Ranger+. I tried to fit a 27.5+ tube in here and it was a tight squeeze. Is it possible to pack a 27.5 "non-plus" tube to use in a pinch?

Thanks in advance.

I have used a 26"x2.1 tube in a 26"x2.3 tire, sheared two consecutive tubes at the valve before I realized it was a bad idea...I would make sure the tube is wide enough to stretch and still not slide inside the tire.

I'm not trying to save grams.... I have a seat pack with all of my supplies and spares and it currently has a 27.5 tube in it. I recently picked ups 29'er and wanted to make sure that I didn't have to re-pack and pack the thing each time I switched bikes.
