2011/2012 JORBA TrailWork & Rides

Will be riding with TFK Pocono Flow otherwise would be there. Talk about trail erosion prevention and skip the video discussions, unless of course you are planning on competing against the Koreans. In that case I will officially transfer my JORBA park to Allaire instead of being an implant there!! 😀

May be there in the morning riding the green/blue loop. If i run into you guys i'd be willing to lend a hand.

All the storm damage has been removed from the north side of the PBT, with part of that section opened up and brushed back for more flow. swoooooop.

@moray42 Thanks for the green/blue recon data!

Always carry a spare drive belt

Joining Mower Monkey on a blue trail mow.

MM and I had our normal TM misadventure.
We met at 7 AM to beat the humidity.
Someone forgot to tell the humidity to meet us later in the afternoon.
It was early.

We were doing fine and pushed further than we had thought that we would get done.

We turned to go back and then the drive belt on the Roof mower decided that it had enough.

There was a spare back at the truck.
Kurt took the other mower and headed back to truck to get it.
I started pushing the mower out, luckily it was the lighter of the two.

Met some nice riders that offered to help and heard a lot of thanks for our work.

We repaired the mower and it was a lot easier to get it out.

Has anyone been out since Irene came to town? I drove out there tonight but it was a ghost town. Signs at the gate said "employees and deliveries only" (something like that). There is a bridge right by Batsto that sustained some damage so they have road closed signs up.

Please respect the signs. Batsto Village is closed. Atsion Rec Area is open. You can check the NJDEP WSF page for updates.

I rode some sections earler this week after driving in via sand roads. (Not recomended unless you have a well equiped truck, a knowledge of the area, a sense of adventure and plenty of time.) The usual storm damage, erosion and blowdowns, was noted and will be addressed in the near future.

Indeed...I did not ride the trails last night.

Just called the ranger station and they told me that the lot would be open tomorrow (Sunday), and that the trails would be open. Please post on here whether I'll be able to get my ride fix in....TIA!!!

As of Sept. 10, CR 542 is still closed on the southern lower side of Batsto Village due to bridge damage from the storms. If you're driving up from the southern side, Hammonton, Nesco, Sweetwater, you'll be detoured over to CR 563 between Weekstown and Green Bank. Then take 542 south (past barricades near Bel Haven CG) on to Batsto.

We made the Huckleberry Trail and the east and west sides of the Firetower Trail passable today. We'll be working (sawing?!) our way up and around the PBT in the coming weeks. Then clearing the Oak Hill and Teaberry Trails.

CR 542 is still closed by the lower end of Batsto Village and you will still be detoured around through Weekstown and Green Bank. Its about 15 extra minutes, but scenic, so relax and enjoy.

The biggest blowdowns have been removed from eastern half of the PBT this past weekend. We're still working our way around with hand saws.

We're planning on firming up those sandy sections near the FireTower on the October 1 and November 5 trail maintenance days. Meet in the parking lot at 9:00, quitting time is apprx. 12:30, with a beginner paced ride afterward. Scheduled TM dates for 2012 include Feb. 4, March 3, & April 7.
