Saw this on Ridemonkey. Since Mt. Snow is hosting the National Champs for the next two years, they've found an alternate northeast national series location this year- Windham Mountain up in the Catskills. Pretty cool to have a USA Cycling National that close to us! My Super-D training starts NOW.

Wow, I remember racing at Windham in 1993. Damn, that's long ago now...

Great news for mtb racing in this region, no doubt.

Do you have to qualify for this or is it just basically another race?

You only have to qualify for Mt Snow, because it is a National Championship race. All other National events are open to all, and of any Nationality.

so .... Norm you will be there, right?

You need to finish in the top 10 or 15(I forget the number) in any of our regional H2H races in each class.

Dunno. What does it mean to be at nationals? I mean, what's my motivation? I don;t even have to leave my county to know I'm not the fastest guy on a bike. I'd hate to travel how many hours only to have it handed to me even worse :D

It is not as much about how you finish, but being a part of something that big, and getting to rub elbows and get inspired by some of the worlds greatest mountain bikers. I have been out pre-riding and spoken with or gotten advise from Steve Tilford, Jerimiah Bishop and Sue Haywood. It's pretty cool.

Plus "drum dude" could always use the help!! :D

Norm,
You should go. Any time something this big is near by it is worth getting to.
I used to hit the US open in VT:D until it became my anniversary. :)
Just the atmosphere alone is so charged with energy that you will do better than youever had ( if you race) or get you so stoked on riding that your head will explode.
I can't wait to get my arse kicked in Windham then in VT next season.

That is what makes the MTB fun for me. I used to race road and everyone out there thought they were up for the next open slot in Europe. Uptight to say the least.
At least in the MTB world it is alot more FUN!
