    6 Mile Run Conditions

Allaire was pretty good yesterday - some mud on the orange trail heading out of the lot - but the blue, white, the bogs and the "back" half of the orange were fine. Mostly good across hospital rd also. I've never ridden 6-mile... I guess I'll wait till it dries up or freezes.

    Allaire Conditions

Rode Allaire yesterday afternoon. Of course it was quite crowded given the temps. Most of it was actually dry - a few muddy spots on the Orange trail heading out that required slow speed or hike-a-bike to preserve the trail. Blue, White, Hog Bog and anything leaf-covered was fine. The bigger...

What type of trails are at Allaire? More for the Intermediate rider?

Valet parking and reserved "tee times" ?

    Have Lights List

I rode Allaire on Wed. 11/4. After it got dark, I must have seen no less than 20 riders out with lights out on the trails - was there some sort of organized night ride going on?

What type of trails are at Allaire? More for the Intermediate rider?

+1... I almost always take the IMBA trail when doing the Orange - it does flow nicer. OTOH if you do climb that hill on the Orange trail - at the top, the very first trail to the right and straight down the hill can be a fun one. - Dan

What have you done to your bike today?

UPDATE: I wasn't happy with the shifting of the 19-16-13 spacing after removing the 15 and 17 and replacing them with the WolfTooth 16. Shifting from the 19 to the 16 was fine - but there was some hiccuping going from the 13 to the 16. I also noticed that I never used the 11T (smallest) cog...

    Nassau Trail conditions

Was thinking of checking this place out. Is it well marked? Anybody have trail maps? Where is it best to park? Thanks... -Dan

What have you done to your bike today?

Yes, I got the "GoatLink" as well. Moves the rear derailleur out so it can reach the 42T. It worked perfectly, I did not even have to fiddle with the "b-screw".

What have you done to your bike today?

Shiny new 1x10 drivetrain, WolfTooth 30T stainless steel ring, WolfTooth 42T and 16T cogs. Rides like a champ and shifts flawlessly...

    Giro AWESOME!

Same here - Giro replaced my Terraduro shoes that had separated around the cleat. One word of caution - the replacement shoes came without cleats - so be sure to take yours off the old shoes before sending them back. -Dan

    pedals pro/con

Shimano PD-M985 (XTR Trail)... silky smooth, easy in & out and the platform helps with stabilization. The XT version (PD-M785) is virtually identical and probably a better buy dollar-wise.

    Allaire Conditions

Hoping it will dry out enough by this afternoon... We only got about an hour of rain, which ended just after 9pm last night. Hadn't rained for several days before that. Just converted my bike to 1x10 drivetrain... can't wait to try it out!

The Best Stem I Ever Had Was...

I started with an 80mm - but I found I liked the steering better with the shorter (50mm) stem - I guess I do have shorter arms.

What have you done to your bike today?

Performing a full overhaul of the VPP rear suspension on my Bronson. At the same time, will be converting the drivetrain from 3x10 to 1x10 using WolfTooth Components' 30T ring and 42T giant cog. Its gonna ride like a brand-new bike.

    Have Lights List

Running 2 NiteRider Lumina 750's on the handlebars (wide spread) and a 3rd Lumina 750 on my helmet. I run them all at low setting and I get plenty of light for hours. They also make great flashlights. -Dan
