    Bang. Check the server logs

Might be a coincidence, but there is a nasty zero day exploit surfacing for vBulletin in the news today. I'd keep an extra eye on the logs and watch for any new patches to apply.

Are you superstitious on bike rides?

Every now and then I see pink Christina Aguilera monsters while riding.

The official homesteading thread of MTBNJ

Just keep up with flue maintenance and have it cleaned annually. I would bet the main hazard is really a chimney fire. It stinks that due to emissions you can't buy a proper stove or insert with real vents now. The old ones you could stoke and choke down and leave them for a looong time...

    Need spin bike

Check CL, I forget his name, but there is a guy up around Union who owns gyms and sells off rebuilt spin bikes on CL. I picked one up for $250 and it's in pretty solid shape. StarTrac Pro I think, it's a tank. *** Found his info, see if he has anything A.E.S. Fitness Adam Schwalb...

Tall clyde daydreaming, Pugs or Moonlander?

Daydreaming a fatbike to park next to my Ogre... Plans for it are for trails/exploring type riding, Pine Barrens'sh terrain, Allaire etc. I'm not a get air type of rider, wanting something to cruise along trails that would likely be annoyingly loose sand like I've seen dual-sport motorcycle...

    Do you like your job?

Love the job (would rather hit the lottery), hate the commute and wish I had more time for cycling.

Bike Shops Don't Stock Clothing, Why?

So I've wondered why shops of almost any kind of specialty haven't come up with an in-store kiosk where a customer could build a shopping cart to have delivered either to home as a drop ship or direct to the shop for install? I get what you are saying all the way. I've worked retail and I...

D&R Canal - Main New Brunswick section ride report

Just did my first ride on the D&R, the main section. Rode from the trail head at Georges St in New Brunswick to I think it was the crossing at East Millstone First Aid Squad (I'm not really from the area.) and back. The loop down and back was about 22 miles. Fast rolling hardpack dirt...

    Hydration Bladder product idea

I found this cool thing on the web that just slips right in and holds it open for air to get to it. I think it is called a "personal massager"... Hrmm for some reason the work proxy won't let me find the link again to paste it :D

Bike Haven in Fair Haven NJ

These guys have been nothing but good to me. I tinker around, sometimes poorly and they are always there to bail me out and help me understand what the right way is to do something. I swapped bars and controls Wed night and forgot that I would need new cables, so I had time yesterday to just...

Who likes to smoke their meat?

I think people over think it. I use the min method, fill the whole ring with charcoal and dump one well lit chimney of coals dead center in the ring. A tight pile of lit coals surrounded by unlit charcoal. Scatter the smoke wood across the ring, a bit more on the lit coals area. I open the...

    help me decide

Galaxy Note 2, though a new one is due out I think. Big battery is why I got it mainly and the big screen really got to be a nice thing. I use it as a GPS all the time in the car and the screen is nice for that. First Android of many where the GPS is reliable enough to use and the battery...

The new Giant Revolt - cross/gravel grinder bike

It's kind of funny as I just built a drop bar Surly Ogre in July and now there's this, the Specialized AWOL, VanDessel WTF... I definitely like my ATV tank of a bike. Fast and light? Not really heh, but neither am I. Definitely fun.

The new Giant Revolt - cross/gravel grinder bike

More of a gravel grinder I suppose, but pretty nice looking bike and the Giant "dirt drop" is actually a pretty nice bar they have on it too. I got a chance to check one out at the LBS (Bike Haven has one on the floor), pretty neat. Cool to see more of these bikes showing up...

Want steerer slugged and welded extension?

So this is kind of crazy... I filled out a fit sheet and was talking to a builder. He pointed out a really improbable seat height I was running vs my inseam. So I checked the estimated saddle height...I'd just never measured before. I stopped in at the LBS to get a new star nut installed...

Want steerer slugged and welded extension?

Yeah...new frame is sounding a lot like the real answer. I went with this Ogre XXL build trying to save some cash, but it's looking like what I expected might happen (too small) is coming true. To get the bars anywhere near the seat level, and I want drops, it's taking a few inches of rise...

Want steerer slugged and welded extension?

Answered my own question I think...this sounds like a very bad idea. I'm looking around for a fork that just comes with a 350mm or longer steerer, there are a few elusive ones around, or I may wind up having a fork made...grrrr.

Want steerer slugged and welded extension?

My bike doesn't fit me, too small, so I've been running a steerer extension, which got me the bar height I need. However the stem column bolt it came with was poorly threaded and doing a bar swap tonight...either the bolt or the start nut threads stripped. Ugh. I'll get that sorted out...
