    Deer Park suggestion box

Possible to get the new lot to double in size. It is a nice access point to get in to the trail system. But just really wish the state would give the park a little bigger lot.

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Very true. Unfortunately the next to come down are Oak trees. In New Jersey, oak trees face threats from diseases like oak wilt, bacterial leaf scorch, and anthracnose.

Ground bees should be getting eaten here pretty quick. I did 4-5 miles of bushwhacking local woods today. Bears and other critters are digging up bee hives everywhere.

Tops breaking off would not be so concerning to me. I am finding mature oaks, bases 20” and bigger, with the bases hollowed out when they fall. The White and Black oaks at Allamuchy and Stephens are rotted at the bases. I find oaks like that all over this area. In the last 3 weeks 2 oak trees...

Tree wise. That section has no trail blockage from trees. A few weeks ago I found one by the lake. Tree top across trail nothing bigger than 6”. If I trail run back there next weekend I will carry my saw to at least cut a hole in it

    Deer Park Conditions

Got back in yesterday for a bit and today for a few hours. Trying to concentrate on the impassable stuff first. There a couple spots in this section that need a little cleaning up, but completely passable.

That was my plan for parking. It was that or park at the school but hike straight over the mountain after going over the bridge at the lake. But will probably park on rt 80.
