    A new superhero: Tecate Man!

I want to know who he is talking to in the first picture. Looks like the phone cord is attached to his bike. If so I need one!

    Rain Gear

I agree with J. The gore gore-tex jackets are great. Plastic rain jackets work also but are super hot and trap in all your sweat. I have the alp-x which I use on the road as a wind breaker also because of its breathability. Plus this time of year with all the chances of rain it is my go to...

i had an AWESOME ride yesterday

According to his location I would guess that the trail should be left un-named!:) Just a guess!

    Log removal at Chimmney Rock

Not sure if this has been said, but logs keep ATV's out of CR. I would be willing to bet that there will be a problem with 4-wheelers or dirt bikes back there sometime this season. Tight singletrack and logs equal no motorized vehicles!

    Lights

You will want one that mounts to your helmet. The X2 dual is handlebar only. The other two will go either way, but IMO not bight enough. I use the X2 as a backup just to get me back to the car if my trinewt runs out. The MiNewt USB + is really only for commuting, although Jim V uses it for...

    new to NJ biking (peapack/gladstone)

There are not any trails in Gladstone/Peapack that I am aware of. The road riding around there is amazing though. You are right in between of Chimney Rock and Lewis Morris. On the northern side of I-80 Allamuchy and Mahlon D. Both great trails!

Beginner question: New bike vs. old?

Lighter weight materials, proper fit and most important would be STI shifting.

    Replacing rear disc pads

Magura as far as I know never made a hydraulic brake. There should be a cotter pin running through the caliper that holds the pads. Bend the cotter pin so it is straight (if it breaks just go to the hardware store to replace it). The pads will drop out of the bottom of the caliper. DO NOT...

    fork travel 100 vs 80

The only problem will be a slacker head tube angle that will make the bike sluggish in the corners and not climb well. That been said I ride a 100mm fork on my Ferrous that is built around 80mm. No problems with the handling. I put the travel reducer in my F29 once and didn't notice a big...
