    Appalachian Trail Thru Hike

Thanks for the writing style compliment and for the ride invite. Right now my work schedule is so erratic its hard for me to ride on weekdays. If I can, I will.

    Appalachian Trail Thru Hike

Thanks for checking out the blog. If you only read one entry, I would recommend Day 2. I haven't done the "re-integration" write up yet for several reasons. The two main ones being that I am currently trying to write a book about my AT trip, and that the time right after the trail is not a time...

    Appalachian Trail Thru Hike

When asked which was the most beautiful state on the trail, my go to answer is always Maine. While I thought every state was beautiful in its own right, Maine has such a primal beauty to it that it would be hard to put another state at the top of the list. Your Knifes edge story is absolutely...

    Appalachian Trail Thru Hike

Hello everyone. It's been a long time since I've been on mtbnj. I stopped mountain biking 6-7 years ago and have only recently got back into it. During those 6-7 years, I did a lot of non-biking things including Thru hiking the Appalachian Trail with my brother in 2017. I wrote a blog all...

    Wildlife

Great thread! I once had a standoff with a young buck at chimney rock. I was riding on the trail and 2 bucks were about 20ft ahead of me and did not move. I came to a stop and the deer just looked at me. i got of my bike and clapped and one of the bucks snorted, stomped his foot and lowered...

    Giant-Fast-Peloton Passing Me.What do I do?

I was riding in rahway park today and forgot it was tuesday. For those of you who don't know, on tuesdays there is a pretty big (30 to 40 people?) group that that does a 20 mile ride at rahway park. They are stupid fast. Anyway, I was within 200-300 feet of the only sharp turn in the park...

    Ramapo ride recap vid

Nice video! It didn't seem too long at all. The cuts were short enough to keep me watching. Good job as always. It's good to see other people wearing pads. I wear knee pads when I ride up north and always feel like a dork.

official word - tibial plateau fracture

I'm glad to hear your recovery is going well. The Devils game was Sick! If both teams keep playing the way they have been playing it's going to be a very entertaining series. Go Devils!

Whats the advantages of going tubeless?

I've been running tubeless for a year and a half now. Zero flats so far (knock on wood), much better overall traction. The only disadvantage is remembering to refill the stans every so often. I'm never going back to tubes. Just my 2 cents.

Ugly never felt so good -Gravity Dropper Turbo Seat Post 4in drop-

:hysterica Yeah, I know putting a dropper post on a xc race bike might seem like I'm trying to turn it into a freeride / allmountain bike, but thats not the case. I'm not hucking the bike off cliffs or hitting jumps. I'm just making the bike a little more fun for me to ride. Also, compared to...

Ugly never felt so good -Gravity Dropper Turbo Seat Post 4in drop-

I know. I kinda felt bad putting on an ugly dropper post on a bike you spent time on making pretty. If it makes you feel any better I did clean the bike after I took the pics...

Ugly never felt so good -Gravity Dropper Turbo Seat Post 4in drop-

First a little backstory I recently bought Lou's (soulchild) Flash 29er. Full specs can be found here. It's a great bike, highly customized, and light. I loved the bike from the first trail ride but something just felt a little off. Which brings me to... Why Compared to most people on...

+1. I was there last monday and had a blast. With all the *newer* it almost feels like a really long pump track. Great flow!

    How to get here!

http://www.mtbnj.com/wiki/Six_Mile_Run Just click the marked parking lots and you can get directions. Route 27 lot is a little easier to find and is on the "twisty" side of the park.
