Garmin is just recording the data so I can upload it to Training peaks. The only time I use the companion app is if i'm doing a group ride and want to message. I'm on rollers so it can get interesting putting on my glasses to see the phone and typing while trying not to get dropped.

I run an Apple TV and will have connection issues if I have anything synched via Bluetooth to my Garmin.
