Not a big or difficult ride. But I took the trek over to the Blue Trail in Mercer Park yesterday. Crossed a few bridges, hopped a few logs, got a bit muddy, had fun. The bike yawned at it.

Well I took the Trek Fuel EX 7. It is mechanically perfect. Has a few scrapes and nick, but nothing major. Previous owner added mud guards, did the tubeless tire conversion, and for what it is worth put an oval chainring on it over the stock NX one. All the cables were replaced about 2 months...

Looking at the trek in a few hours. It's a fair price if the condition is as advertised. It has the NX drive train, which most have said is a big upgrade over the SX. Only thing I could see upgrading are the brakes.

I do not see the $2100 bike you mention. Looked like 3500 was listed.

On the Giants I suspect I would go small. I know on Trek I am the standard M. I think on Specialized I also straddle the S to M line.

I want to leave my options open for downhill. I own land 3 miles from Killington so plan on trail riding here, and some downhill up there. Think that put me firmly in the all mountain or trail bike designation for most companies.

The Intense has Kenda (Rigolith) wheels, WTB i30 rims, and looks like Intense branded hubs, Fezzari has Maxis (Agressor and Minion mixed set), WTB STP i29 rims, and Bear Claw MTB hubs. I live right near Mercer Park in Central NJ.
