    “Pro’s” tech

They would probably be the ticket for setting a PR at 6MR if you can get a lap in during low-use times.

    “Pro’s” tech

Sold by the case? From reading the description, it sounds like the 170TPI version is basically design to last for ONE race. Riding these on the local trails would be like running DOT R-Comps on the street... technically you could... but it would be a bit of a waste.

What in the hell am I looking at?

Those seem to be popular in Europe as camera bikes during road races.

What in the hell am I looking at?

That is probably the main reason they have front suspension - to allow for one side to compress when leaning. And because the suspended weight is spread between two forks, those forks can be set pretty soft.

Weighing in at a feathery 82 lbs.

    Strava question

I detest riding on greenway paths for that reason - walkers, joggers, rollerblades... dogs on leashes... it's just not enjoyable for anyone. I feel safer on the road with cars. At least with drivers I can generally predict what they are going to do. Strava? It's like any other type of...

Should Trek / LBS get into the rental business ?

I suppose leasing may be an option, but if you consider how auto leases are typically calculated, I would not expect one for a bike to be cheap. Say you want to lease a $10K bike for a year. You're basically taking out a $10K loan, so there's the interest on that. Then there's the...

2024 Gravity Season (races, freeride events, etc...)

Yeah, I had a feeling it was a pirate feed of some sort. We'll see how it goes tomorrow, since it looks like it may be too wet to ride anywhere.

2024 Gravity Season (races, freeride events, etc...)

Hmm... I saw this in the Pinkbike comments section about the upcoming WC races... might be a workable solution until the WB/UCI finds it and shuts it down. https://tiz-cycling-live.io/livestream I suppose I'll try it Saturday since with all of the rain Friday it'll probably be too muddy to...

    E-bikes are a thing

The high-cadence thing - I'm not sure, but your reasoning sounds plausible. Short cranks - to help limit pedal strikes since you'll often be pedaling through sections of trail where if you stop pedaling, the power stops.

    E-bikes are a thing

So, so close... What moron product manager at Mondraker decided to spec 170mm cranks on the L and XL sizes?? Especially when you need to pedal at like 100 RPM cadence to get full power out of the motor? Oh well... it gives an owner a good excuse to pony up for ebWings. :p Honestly, that 100...

    Earthquake????

Holy shit! Is that a broken water main? Found an article. 24" main in Randolph, NJ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/earthquake-blamed-for-water-main-break-in-randolph-new-jersey/ar-BB1l9g2s

    Earthquake????

Felt it here in Lower Bucks, PA. House shook longer than I've ever felt it. At first I thought it was wind or maybe a train (an Accela going by at speed will make my house vibrate a bit), but it lasted long enough for me to get up from my desk and look out the window where I noticed the trees...

Post a picture of your next bike part or mtb gear on order!

I'm curious... My team/club used to have a deal with Hayes so I have two sets of early Dominions sitting on the shelf (along with extra rotors and the pro/shop bleed kit). I installed one set on my Megatower when I first built it up back in 2019. I never really got to terms with getting them to...

How to jack up an older car and educate me on car repairs

It's hard to tell from the picture, but assuming there is enough slack in the hoses you might want to unbolt the filter bracket from the car and then put a small catch pan under the filter when you unscrew it. Or at least maybe do it the first time. Just in case the filter dumps oil all over...

    E-bikes are a thing

I don't need convincing to get an e-bike. I'm mainly waiting for what I want to get built. Basically - something like what the new Cannondale is power and weight-wise with 160ish of travel. I pretty much always ride with a HRM. Since I tend to run fast, I use it to monitor efforts. Like on...

    E-bikes are a thing

My friend Maria definitely does this - she is fast without an e-bike. Her on an e-bike just means she can now go stupid fast for longer. We both rode at Birdsboro on Sat. My ride: Maria's ride: And she did a 25+ road ride this morning... whereas my legs can barely walk today... Of...

    E-bikes are a thing

I had an absolutely brutal experience yesterday that had me wanting an e-bike. Rode Birdsboro in PA with friends. If you've ridden there, it's a lot of climbing with some "enduro-like" descents. The only two beside me not on e-bikes were a 17 year old XC runner who is a living motor and my...

How to jack up an older car and educate me on car repairs

Yes, that length can be an issue. One catch with a Quick Jack is if the jacking points are somewhat close to the wheel openings. That was the issue with my ex's Volvo - the rear jacking point is only a few inches from the rear wheels. While the 1800 is a unibody car, the pinch welds are not...
