    Chimney Rock Conditions

Taken yesterday morning on Red. The higher you go, the more snow/hard pack. Closer to the reservoir it melted and refroze, had to walk the bike it was so slippery. Only muddy in a few spots with lots of sun exposure. But that was yesterday morning…

    Chimney Rock Conditions

Yeah lesson learned. I picked it up when I first started MTB in late 2019, probably just threw the leash out and never gave it another thought. Also unlucky that it wasn’t findable via the app because my kid had recently deleted the app from my phone (and therefore unpaired it). I went out...

    Chimney Rock Conditions

We started after the snow around 745a, ended sometime around 930 maybe. I walked back up Red to find but there was just so much snow. I’m guessing it fell somewhere in the circled area. Can’t imagine it will still be working when it turns up, but worth hoping. Thanks for keeping an eye out!

    Chimney Rock Conditions

Hey guys, went out in the snow today and lost a Garmin Edge 1030, most likely on Red. I don’t have much hope of finding it, but if you see it anywhere or if someone put it by the parking lot, please let me know!

Advice for a mtb-friendly Airbnb host in Southern VT

The coffee thing was part of the idea from the beginning...the machines are actually not bad to use, and yes we will have instructions! Once COVID is over, the idea was to have some kind of "experience" where we have someone come and show you how to make coffee in various different ways (french...

Advice for a mtb-friendly Airbnb host in Southern VT

Super interesting, thanks for sharing! Our place was pretty much move-in ready, albeit we paid more for it in purchase price I'm sure. On my end, I haven't done anything we talked about yet (!!), there's just been so many other things to do around the house and I've had very limited time up...

Advice for a mtb-friendly Airbnb host in Southern VT

Wow, thanks for the great advice and links. I was thinking outdoor shed as well; the house is on a decline so it's obstructed from view, and on a quiet dead end road to boot, but nonetheless I don't want to give people any reason to bring dirty bikes inside. Workstand is a really good idea...

Advice for a mtb-friendly Airbnb host in Southern VT

Hi folks! I recently acquired a home in Southern VT and am interested in running it as a short-term rental property. We are 5 minutes from Stratton and 30 minutes from Mt Snow, both of whom operate bike parks in the summer, so I figured it would be a good idea to try and tailor the place...

    6 Mile Run Conditions

I know what you mean. But, recently watched a video from GMBN where they went out of their way to preface with “don’t do this in the US”. I’m guessing they’ve gotten similar feedback from others... Will link the vid if I find it.

    6 Mile Run Conditions

Lots of rain lately but mornings this week look nice and frozen (26F near sunrise). What do we think? Anyone make it out there this morning? Am thinking about tomorrow/Tuesday.

Gloves and knee sleeves are a good suggestion. I got these after I took a spill riding gravel: https://www.backcountry.com/troy-lee-designs-speed-knee-sleeve After a few rides to break them in, they are comfortable enough that I don't mind wearing them even when riding gravel (forget trail).

    6 Mile Run Conditions

Did Red => Blue out & back this morning around 7a. Conditions were mostly very good, except for the colossal mud pit on Red between Middlebush and 27 (has been previously called out). That being said, with the rain tonight and the forecast for the rest of the week, it probably looks like a...

    Tamarack Hollow

Sweet, thanks for confirming. I've actually ridden there a few times on a gravel bike (Kona Rove) but was looking for some confirmation before admitting it... :D The terrain would definitely be boring on a trail bike but is really fun on gravel (though I have fallen once or twice due to loose...

    Tamarack Hollow

http://www.middlesexcountynj.gov/About/ParksRecreation/Pages/PR/Tamarack-Hollow-Preserve.aspx What's the deal with this place? Are bikes permitted? Went to check out the terrain and parts of it seemed groomed for...something. Feels like it would be a great place for a fat bike in the winter...

    6 Mile Run Conditions

What's a good nearby alternative? Am looking for a quieter option. 27 entrance to 6MR is literally 0.5mi from my driveway, but I'm getting sick of the crowds. Skill wise, I've only been riding 6mos and still struggle to clean some of the climbs on Red, esp near the canal exit. Hence haven't...

    6 Mile Run Conditions

Trail conditions were good this morning. But there were WAY too many people, with a bad mix of inexperienced riders. I've never felt this unsafe going around a corner b/c I was worried about a head-on.

    6 Mile Run Conditions

I know! I started riding in November and was anxiously looking forward to summer b/c I figured it will be great to ride when its > 25 degrees, but I find myself missing those winter rides. And no ticks!
