Ran some practice beads for a few minutes with it and discovered it was not really working out. I needed mix instead.

Bike rack bag that bolts on.

I just bought a blackburn rack that mounts with the skewer. All these bags seem to have the straps on the bottom that barely hold it on the thin metal of the rack. Looking for a more permanent and lightweight solution. I see topeak has a system but it looks heavy. its not a dealbreaker but i...

    Shimano hub upgrade

My cup and cones are burned out on my fh-m475 hubs after about 12 years. Was going to swap it with another but would rather use sealed bearings instead. This is a beater bike not looking for performance or weight savings. Most shimano hubs appear to be cup and cone. 135mm 6 bolt. Oh my...

    Climbing poles

Anyone remember when parks had climbing poles? I guess either they were too dangerous or there are only a dozen people in the state that actually could use it. Stephens had one and a decade ago i trained hard to do it with just my hands. I want to get back into it because im having an early...

    Pressing out bearings

If they had a lip around the entire inside i would hit a socket around the perimeter and knock it out. There is only part of the bearing overhanging i'm not going to try hitting that till i know the normal way to do it. Looks like there are 4 bearings in there Nevermind...im dumb the inner...

    Road shifter issue

I generally can figure out most drivetrain issues. It's a 105 short cage from probably 2008. Says flight deck shifter , everthing is 10 sp. My problem is when shifting up sometimes the shifter will click but i will have to give it a nudge to index properly as it's chattering trying to index...

Natural gas lines messing up the roads.

As a roadie i have three options. Ride in the middle of the road and have speeding cars up my A. Ride on the repaved natural gas trench and get bumped all over the place, or ride on the actual shoulder filled with rocks glass and disposable vapes. It's a first world problem but this is a...

    State park drone patrols

Do you think drone patrols are in the near future for state parks? Sent it on an autonomous path after hours to look for bad behavior. Fine violators and know the park is actually being patrolled making it safer and keep the shifty business out. Who knows...they may already be watching you

    Road gravel tires

Specialized pathfinder looks like a great tire and the WTB "all terrain" looks less roadlike but i like the tread pattern. One day i might do a 25 mile 95% road ride the next 50 miles 50/50 road gravel. A tire that i won't feel like i'm killing it if i'm riding road. I am not averse to just...

    Amazon hub lockers

As i was picking up my GU gel from the amazon hub locker i had an idea what if you used hub lockers to support a long ride, or just make it a destination? I feel like i am onto something but not sure yet. Using and abusing the hub lockers.

Using the same spoke length on drive and non drive.

Had a wheel built over a decade ago. Recently had to change the hub, rebuilt the wheel for different hub with the same spokes. After I built the wheel i took it apart again because i had considered the spokes could be different lengths. Measured the spokes and they were all the same length...

Use tap as a drill bit

I bought a 12mm maxle for my old DH bike frame. It's pretty tight and it needs a dead blow to go through. So i don't have a 12mm bit to ream it out, but i do have 12mm taps. 1. So buy a 12mm bit and ream it 2. Put the tap on high gear and send it.

    Clutch derailluers and chain tensioners.

So i bought an untouched frame of one of my old DH bikes to swap the fork over. I may or may not find my chain guide and tensioner. So i guess modern bikes have this thing called a clutch derailluer. If i used a short or medium cage clutch derailluer, is any chain retention device even needed?
