    Sterling Forest Trail Conditions

Day off tomorrow... how are the trails? Is everything a muddy mess from all this recent rain?

    Tubing Delaware River

Ive parked at Kingwood Boat Access just outside of Frenchtown. Took the second car 15-20min down the road to another boat launch and parked it. That took us 4.5hr. It is a slow river most times. We had Walmart tubes and they did just fine.

    Need some newer bike recomendations

The 130 front 110/120 rear bikes are really the sweet spot for the common man doing common things. In my opinion anyway. Tallboy, Django, Horsetheif, 429 Trail, new Stumpjumpter ST, and many more.

    Need some newer bike recomendations

Tallboy owner here. I have 27.5+ and 29 wheels for the bike and swap them out pretty frequently. 29 is more fun when you are out there hammering it. When they're up to speed you can really roll over stuff. The plus set up is more fun at casual speeds for sure. Bigger margin for error, much more...

Any YT Jeffsy Owner’s in North Jersey?

Ringwood & Sterling most often. Ive taken it to Hartshorne a few times, it really flies there when you can get some speed up.

Any YT Jeffsy Owner’s in North Jersey?

TB3 owner here. Im running 25% sag. More pedal strikes than the Trance I came from, but you learn quick to avoid them. Maybe one strike per ride? I really really enjoy this bike. It came with the 27.5+ wheels, which are great for smashing around. I have since got 29" wheels and enjoy them more...

H2H #4: The Stewart Poison Ivy Mousetrap

How well does Stewart drain? Im going to try and get up there Sunday, unless the rain Saturday really drowns the place.

Got any pics of the drive side? Would like to see what kind of drivetrain you got on there.

NJ Bike Shops with demo fleets?

I do indeed. Ringwood & Sterling mostly. I find the bike to be perfectly suited for the area. Yes, I do get a pedal strike now and then. Once a ride maybe, if that. It's far less of an issue than you'd think. Cant recommend the bike enough. Im coming from a 150/140 Giant Trance. Also a great...

NJ Bike Shops with demo fleets?

I dont have a suggestion beyond those two shops. But I can tell you I demo'd a Tallboy at TBW... then bought it after the ride. I had no intentions of purchasing a bike that day. Man do those bikes sell themselves.

    Anyone wearing knee pads?

I have Race Face Indy knee pads. I like them quite a bit and dont find them super restrictive. But... like most responders, I dont wear them too often. If I think ill be doing more high-speed stuff, or if exploring a new trail system, Ill take them along for sure. But I prefer the pedaly side of...

Ringwood State Park early AM question

I parked at Shepard yesterday, around noon. No fee collection in sight. The school is always guaranteed free though, and im my opinion, closer to the better trail in the park.

Anyone been out today? I’m going to do some laps tomorrow morning. Curious if yesterday’s rain is lingering.

    Which Garmin?

I have a 520 and have never wanted more out of it. Garmin puts the battery at 20hrs. Even if it's 15, that is still pretty good. Never been an issue for me. It charges fast as well. The mapping/routing takes a bit of effort. You'll need to run it through a computer first to make it a TCX file...

    On bike tool storage

How I carry seems to be ever-evolving. Currently, and this is my favorite set-up so far, I have a tube & co2/nozzle in a backcountry strap on the frame. Im using a CamelBak Chase bike vest. Its quite small, has pockets at the front and sits high enough to use jersey pockets. In the back of the...

    Your In-Car Gear Bag

That cat5 bag is pretty jazzy! After reading through this I went and got myself a husky soft-side tool bag for all the tools & spares. Then I use a duffel for anything I'm going to wear & eat. Big upgrade from the ziplock bag of clanging tools & parts.
