Deer Park Conditions

Heres that big blown down mentioned above.
Completely blocking the Barberry Trail.
Why do these trees always seem to fall on the trails ?
Theres some good solid oak here. I could smell it in the air.
Pics showing it from both sides

Thanks for the intel. I think the small saw will do. Pardon delays though, my knee is fighting with me badly these days....I can do short missions, but I pay the price. The other sawyers are aware of the situation.

I moved some of that out of the way but it needs a chainsaw. There is a go-around developing that isn’t too bad, might be able to leave the tree and just adopt the go-around. Marked it in red…

@Teutonic & I cut out the big Oak by the lake, that @FrankR , @de00304 and @Robin all referenced. That was a lot of work, took us maybe an hour and half. We looked at the long length of the half-split trunk that had potential to be a skinny. A fair amount of additional work needed to tie that in, so we stood down on that.

When finished with that, we got one near the Allamuchy Pond trailhead link, practically next to the kayak/canoe dock. WARNING: Please be advised, there's a 2 x 6 collapsed plank on that boardwalk, maybe a 4 ft length. This towards the kayak/canoe dock end.

As we were packing up, we had heard about a blockage on the Allamuchy pond trail, near where it intersects with the rest of the park (near the rerouted section). Will have to be done another day. Unfortunately we were unaware of it while we were in close proximity.

Thanks again for everyone's Intel.

I revisited this today and found it to be all clear... I did cut one small branch right at the intersection, but it was so small that I wondered if it was the reportable item? Nearby was fresh evidence of a larger branch that had broken in such a way that some passing hikers may have removed it by hand. Either way, the Allamuchy Pond Trail from the Panther Valley Connector intersection to the rock garden was checked and certified clear!
