Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer 2025 - Let's Really Tell Cancer to F*ck OFF!

So just a quick update this time.

For those of you who follow me on Strava you may already know this but today I surpassed my 2nd fundraising goal of $7500 (previously $5000). This is amazing and also means that now I plan to raise my fundraising goal to $10,000 because every dollar counts towards beating this disease that has taken a toll on way too many people around us.

There’s only about 2.5 weeks until I leave for my segment of the ride but I will be fundraising all the way until the end of October even after the full ride ends on Oct 1st.

Thanks for helping continue to spread the word and share my story and my fundraising link I really and truly appreciate it.

LFG Time!!!

So after 5 months of training, around 300 hours and nearly 4000 miles it’s time to get ready to ride !!

The ride event started Sept 5th in Cannon OR. The teams relay to each other every 3 days so team 3 is underway and we will meet them in Salt Lake City UT for the handoff. I fly out Saturday morning and we ride 14-16th about 60-80 miles a day to Denver CO.

I have never felt more ready from a training perspective for any event I have ever done in the last 10 years than I am for this one. I’m more worried about forgetting something I need than the ride itself. It’s going to nice not to have to worry about fuel, hydration or any mechanical issues since we have a fully supported rolling crew with us the entire ride.

We will split into two groups and I am very happy I got selected for the slightly faster pace group which also means we will tackle the harder terrain routes (meaning more climbing ! ). It’s the exact challenge I wanted and the cause we are riding for is extra motivation.

Since I was selected to participate in this ride I have 3 good friends who’s dads passed away from cancer, then we have Frank and also I have one good friend/former colleague. And that’s just in the last few months. I hope
One day there’s a time where more of this is curable but until then all we can do is hope all of the donations made towards research helps find that cure.

As part of the event, the bike jerseys have space for names of people we want to honor either survivors or those who have passed. It came right down to the wire to have the jerseys ready but I found a local place who was willing to do it and so I collected names from donors and also my family and friends and I could not be happier with the result even if it makes me sad to read them.

Even if you didn’t donate yet you still can until the end of October. Even if you don’t donate I still ride for anyone you might know dealing with a cancer diagnosis or who has passed. This is for everyone. This event is special to me because of how badly my family was impacted by cancer and I lost both my parents before I turned 23. And my Uncle (dad’s brother) a year later who I was also very close with.

Thanks to everyone who donated and I will not stop pedaling until it’s over. Will try to post updates from the road when I can.

F*ck Cancer cause here I come …

Got a bunch more donations rolling in all
Day today it’s been amazing. !

Not only did I get economy plus with my airline miles I got an empty row all to myself for the whole flight.

Incredible views coming into the airport. Never been here before and we have absolutely perfect weather the next 3 days.

Not messing around here it’s pro level operation. Drop off pedals saddle Garmin mount and come back for a floor fit on the bike.

Bike fit done ! Now off to welcome the incoming team and then a combined team dinner together with both teams.

Tmw morning we roll..

And just for the hell of it I turned on strava for the descent 😜🛬

Just wrapped up day 1 and I’m almost at a loss for words how awesome that was.

We are treated like royalty with a traveling crew that includes coaches riding with us, Sag van with all our drop bags, spare wheels and a mechanic , EMTs and an advance crew setting up snack and lunch stops.

Today’s route started just outside SLC so we drive in the shuttle van to the start. Then we did a 20+ mile climb up to 9300ft elevation. I was definitely feeling the less oxygen and it took me about 5 miles to settle into a good rhythm and HR. Kept all my donors and family friends in mind and just kept pedaling even when I thought how am I gonna make it to the top.

We did 21 miles and 3000ft of climbing before the rest stop. Then we hit the 25 minute descent something I have never experienced before. After that we cruised like 20+ mph paceline for the rest of the day.

70 miles 3400+ ft elevation. Every mile for those we lost and anyone fighting cancer.

Intial photo dump until I get onto hotel WiFi

Day 2 recap.

Shuttle 2 hours in the morning to start in Craig CO to ride to Steamboat springs CO. We got the harder route over “the Three Sisters “ climbs. The middle sister was a toral
Bitch with 8-10% grade riding up to 7500+ elv. While I feel the lower oxygen Ive been able to manage a good cadence and pace up these climbs.

Not allowed to take pics while riding but every view of the mountain ranges was just incredible. I got some decent shots while we were stopped here and there.

The support and rolling food and lunch stops are top level. The chef heard I didn’t like spicy food so they made me my own sandwich today.

We ride single or double paceline the whole
Time and the coaches do the pulls. We blasted the last 20 miles of rolling hills and had a great finish and pace. Tomorrow is the big day we ride up to Gore Pass close to 10K elv. Hope I’ve got the lungs and legs left in me.

More donations came in today I am so thankful. Quick photo dump then I need to sleep.
