Dropper - What to buy?

PNW Loam had been my go-to until I installed a Bike Yoke on my Levo. That thing is butter smooth and has that instant up butt slapping action like the Specialized Command, but without the need to keep pumping it up.

Have a OneUp on another bike. It was a tad bit too tall, but pretty cool that it can be adjusted. Otherwise I'd say it's a notch below the Bike Yoke.

All work excellent in freezing could temps.

Speaking to durability, I have 2 Loams that are roughly 5-6 years old. The Yoke is about 1 year old and the OneUp was last winter. Never serviced any of them. Probably just jinxed myself 😛

Haven't tried nearly the variety of droppers most of y'all have, but I can say my bikes all have PNW Loam on them, and outside of occasional needed cable changes, I've never had any issues.

Adding to my previous reply. I have a Fox Transfer on my Pivot T429, PNW Loam on the SScalpel was a Thomson Elite, and a Thomson External dropper used on the rigid I.F. SS.

The PNW Loam was purchased in '19 to stand in while the Thomson Elite was sent out for service. Thomson is in the spare parts bin. The PNW has been serviced twice in 6yrs, once by me, once by the LBS while it was in for a complete teardown after a very wet and muddy TSE this year.

The Thomson External failed after less than 150mi, sent back and replaced under warranty. Still sitting in the box. May sell it.

The Fox has been sticky on occasion and was serviced by my LBS. Don't ride it much, but seems less sticky since the service.

my bike (santa cruz) came with the RockShox reverb, and for exactly 12 months.. I love it.. super snappy, does exactly what its supposed to do...
and then.. I got the "squish" which I didn't know was a thing. until I googled it. and now the majority of responses on how to deal with it.. is to buy something else.

I'm looking into rebuilding it. but not sure what kind of cost that's going to be .. yet ( or maybe I'll just save that for a winter project )

so tldr : rather than a suggestion on what TO buy,, I'm going to suggest maybe NOT buy a rockshox reverb.. ( but maybe there is a simpler solution to my issue )

I have a transfer for ya - after my 3rd reverb, I switched. let me know the size, we'll see if it matches up - it is off my tallboy.

Seems like reverbs still kinda suck. AXS reverb is different and is actually pretty great other than the weight and price. It’s super reliable and works in any condition. I had one last 3 years before it needed to be serviced. Gearworks did it for a reasonable amount.

I wish they made a 27.2 AXS... that would solve a minor problem for me...

And as long as I wishing for dumb things they would be lucky to sell tens of... a 26.8mm dropper post would be nice too... I'd be more inclined to drag a couple of my old bikes out of retirement.

The team at Belmar Bikes including @ChrisG got me all fixed up - they were able to get a 170mm One Up to fit! Super excited to get out in the woods with a proper trail bike again 🙂

Just realized this was my friend's bike. She takes good care of her bikes. She's actually a pretty good descender, but her knees don't really allow her to use a dropper post, so unless the bike has one that would be a PITA to remove, she doesn't install them. She built this bike from a frame, so I don't think it ever had one - at least while she owned it.

She Is a Super cool human being, I chatted a bit with her - she has ridden some epic spots too!

The crew at Belmar Bikes was able to get a 170mm dropper in there😎

This bike rips, I am loving it!
