    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

waway is a complete disaster. red dot totally unrideable, mojo unrideable, hemlock unrideable. twin bridges is ok generally. i've honestly never seen it this bad, even after sandy. trees down everywhere, and it's not just one-offs its big sprawling trees that are taking out 20-30 ft of trail at...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

its always been my understanding that leaving the trees and creating bypasses is no good as it widens the trails

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

serious question...has anyone been bitten or does anyone know someone who has been bitten by a rattlesnake here? i've been riding for 10+ years and saw a grand total of 1 rattlesnake in that time. this past week i have seen THREE of them, and today was a VERY close call. descending turkey ridge...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

btw i've decided that this tree after the rock bridge is the biggest tree i've ever seen fallen at waway. i saw 2 separate families of hikers forced to turn around over the weekend because there was no way for them to get the small children over it.

New trail connecting Red Dot with Cedar Swamp

this whole thing is absurd. were these same park rangers this upset during the epic battle over mojo trail last summer when someone carved a worthless 30ft bypass off of the main trail and the opposing factions took turns dumping rocks branches and very dangerous debris into the others' trail...

New trail connecting Red Dot with Cedar Swamp

it's a nice trail. good flow. as far as being legal or not i cannot say, although if you think about it, it took a lot of man hours and equipment to build that trail. if the ranger office didn't sanction it, the rangers sure aren't out patrolling the park AT ALL. maybe that's why they're so...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

yeah i don't care. it doesn't give him license to butcher perfectly fine trails and make them confusing to everyone for zero benefit (no offense to the 3 of you who do xc skiing). that's how we end up losing access to parks

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

very sad to report that someone over the past 24 hours vandalized and destroyed a section of mojo swamp. seems like there's a back and forth pissing match between ppl who want the trail to remain on its normal course and someone who insists there needs to be a shortcut through a roundabout...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

trees still down all over the place on red dot. called the office again today and the nice person on the phone brought up the downed tree on the walkway near the main beach that still hasn't been cleared after a month. they put up caution tape but left the tree there. that is to say, there's not...
