    Car A/C repair

Slow leaks are hard to spot when the engine and the condenser fans are running. My wife's MB C280 had a bad coupler on the condenser itself and it was obvious when I charged it up. Usually once the system is pressurized and you run the car and turn it off, medium to large leaks are very evident...

    Computer mount?

I have only seen very few that adapt to the handlebar clamps. Something like this >>Handle bar extender would not be too bad.

    Grease and lube

I have always used Mobil 1 Syn grease and automotive assembly grease to get headsets and threads set. They are usually not long lasting, so cant be used for prolonged lubrication. Bike assembly lubes are NOT the same as automotive assembly lubes so do not use them for the above. For stanchions...

    Cleaning & Lubing chain

I am the same with the Simple green. Dilute it with hot tap water, soak it for 15 minutes, brush the chain and rinse it in the same Simple Green solution to get out the dirt. Then rinse it again in hot tap water rag dry it and let it dry out by my water boiler exhaust or by my furnace exhaust...

    Efinger Sporting

He surely does. Every store has its following and I enjoy two stores, and Efinger is one of them. Marc is a genuinely a wonderful guy.

    Efinger Sporting

Stopped by Efinger Sporting Goods in Bound Brook yesterday to get GU energy gels. Around 3pm, the store was packed and the store was completely redone, especially in the Camping and biking departments. I came back after work and was bought a box of GU (24 pacs in a box) and Mark came running to...

What have you done to your bike today?

Had to change the headset bearings on the Enduro couple of weeks ago. The old one, that came from the shop, was rusted on the bottom and the top had bearings and the plastic holder broken and about 3 bearings and its holder ring were missing. Mystery. Found out the integrated bearings are...

    Bikers & Hikers

I was at Lewis Morris this past Saturday with 12 other riders, we started early and met maybe 4 other riders on the trail. Two of them, gave no concern for climbers and they were descending. On on of the climbs, I jumped off the bike and tucked myself away from the path as the moron was just...

    ear wind noise

I second this. In winter, when I ride the roads, I use my fleece cap and throw in my Ironman headphones with the mp3 players set to volume 2 (max is 30). I can still hear the cars, and voice, but the wind noise is next to non-existent.

    Suspension Not Extending Fully

Eric, if Tim's suggestion does not work, then do the following. The issues with the used bikes/fork is that the usage and ride pattern is pretty much impossible to know truthfully. I ride with guys who get them off ebay and eventhough they are Fox, some dont travel at full or even have the...

    need a front tire

I run Specialized Eskar Armadillo Elite tires in the rear of my bike and the front runs on the stock S-works Eskar. As much as I love the S-Works, the Armadillo Elite is one tough bastard. It is a bitch and a half to put on and once sealed, it is not going anywhere. I have run my bike at...

    brake diagnosis

Cuda, this is what you do. Take the rear wheel off and the pads off the caliper. Clean the pads with degreaser, wash and then completely clean with alcohol. Then take a heavy grit sand paper and sad few layers off the pads and set the pads aside. Now your attention to the rear wheel/disk...

    Need more front brake

Your center of mass and your weight plays a role in selecting the rotor size. Even though a larger diameter brake disk (for a given brake pad contact) provides higher brake torque resulting in quicker/shorter stops. Swap the rotor size to either a 185 or 203mm with proper caliper adapter and try...
