    Strava question

Strava used to have “flybys” as a publicly-available feature, which shows where other people with public strava accounts where riding relative to your ride. You could also find riding segments along the greenway, go to the leaderboards and then filter for “Today” to look for them. Both of those...

    23-24 Ski and Snowboard thread

Vermont was gnarly this weekend, probably the fastest “snow” I’ve skied this year. Going from 45 on Friday to -5 on Saturday will do that. Killington was still super fun yesterday.

Do I need to run a T-Type Cassette with Transmission Drivetrain?

Or can I opt for an older model of eagle cassette? Is it the case that performance of the transmission drivetrain is reduced by running a non-T type cassette?

What width underfoot are people skiing nowadays? I've skied on 96 underfoot for a while now and am getting a new pair within the next month or two and I'm debating on increasing width to ~ 105. I do primarily ski the east, though, which gives me pause... but since charging straight down...

Pico friggin rocks. Keep it on the hush hush, though, because it’d be a shame if people started going there on the weekends. The trail Summit Glades is actually one of my favorite in the east on a snowboard. Consistent, not-too-steep but not boring pitch, and it really feels like you’re deep in...

Loon is filled with friggin massholes from bahston, kid. Only 2 hourahs up 93. Don’t go there on the weekend. It also is just the least interesting of all the east coast ikon mountains. Short runs and not much challenging stuff. Snowpack tends to be lower than all the other mountains too, even...

I was at sugarbush yesterday too! Bummed we didn’t run into one another. Where did you ski most of the day?

    Sourlands Mountain Preserve Conditions

The technical trails up top here are extremely different from anything else in New Jersey in my opinion. They’re super fun rocks to ride, and like Patrick tagged me for, there’s some crazy alternate lines to get some serious air/serious consequences. I’m pretty proud of myself for knowing most...

just got home from 5 days in big sky. They were LOW tide with the snowpack on Friday; like southern Vermont low snowpack. then they got ~ 10 inches of pow on Saturday through Sunday which made for some great days. Unfortunately I learned the hard way about how famously rocky it is there…

The graveyard - post your most destroyed bike part

I hadn’t ever broken a wheelset in my 11 years of mountain biking until this weekend. I was feeling very confident at the end of my ride and rode up to this one feature at a local park of mine in northeastern Massachusetts, a 20ish foot stream gap… welp, I didn’t get enough speed and cased the...

    Allamuchy North Conditions

I gotta start riding with a stick every time I go then 😂 truly a solid 30% of the white trail from tranquility to cardiac bypass looks like that. I didnt ride it between dans trail and cardiac but I can only assume that the common suspects for holding water are looking pretty bad there too.

    Allamuchy North Conditions

Lots of spots on white throughout the park where water has overtaken the trail. It’s kinda fun to ride through, I can’t lie, but obviously isn’t ideal for a trail’s long-term survival/erosion. These two pictures are from near the exit of dans trail/ice cream.
