Help with chain compatibility, what is the least number of chains to be in the tool box!

I just ordered a mess of lube, and some chains off the backcountry sale. I have a few hangers for my biological kids (because my son's bike makes expensive noises often) and I think because of the huge variety of other bikes in our fleet, if we are deep enough in the woods I will single...

Help with chain compatibility, what is the least number of chains to be in the tool box!

I feel like this is a bad standardized test question.... but here goes I am a head coach of our local NICA team (go blue devils!), and I am putting together a race day/team parts box to keep our riders on the trail. I just found a bunch of clearance water bottle cages at Trek Stirling, and...

Well, I only hate my current rack when I use it.... velocirax? One Up? What am I missing.

I have a saris super clamp 4 plugged into a yakima back swing, and that gives me the clearance to swing bikes away, but now that the family is on 29ers, and mid fat 27.5 with wide bars, loading the bikes is like a bad game of jenga. I am a little frustrated with the customer service too...

    Chainsaw safety training October 4th &5th 2025

Breaking news for my fellow sawyers! Woods machinery has Aspen 2 premix fuel that is approved by Stihl for 11 a qt. Even cheaper by the gallon. It is crazy expensive but not motomix 18 a qt expensive. Ethanol kills small engines, and the stabalizers do not help. Usually when I go upstate...

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

Update, and quite the bombshell, bigger rotors, and better pads stop way better. The bike is now perfectly content slowing my big feet. yes, I will say big feet. down with authority, and now I am very stoked to get it back on the trails. Next stop Allaire on Sunday for OTB 101...

That is one good looking group of sawyers! It was a great course, and pretty cool to see how far the battery saws have evolved, all the electrics held their own against the gas burners!

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

New as in picked up august, under 100 miles on the bike. I spent a bit of time talking to The Lost Co, and have adapters, 200 mm sram hs2 rotors (2mm) and MTX gold pads on route. I am thinking it should be better, there was no leaks around the pistons.

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

They looked way more like copper after cleaning and before going back on. I will say after swapping pads on my truck it is really nice to work on brakes without a 1/2 breaker bar and 5lb hammer!

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

I have more data, I scrubbed the rotors, brake kleen, then copious amounts of rubbing alcohol, The pads are metal pads, they seemed glazed, and cleaned up with sandpaper, brakekleen, and then lots of rubbing alcohol, I rebedded the pads, and the bike is definitely stopping better, but...

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

I am running 180 mm rotors, pad type unknown, no squeaking, no rubbing

Yes, I am a clydesdale, but the brakes should still be better

Good morning all! Yesterday, I went for a ride at Dickerson Mine, and I spent far too much time feeling like I was in an overloaded truck and could not scrub speed as fast as I wanted too, I have a new ibis ripley af with the deore 6100 brakes (4 piston) The brake levers do not bottom out...

What do you carry and is it too much?

I definitely am carrying too much, but I feel like if I leave the NICA spec first aid kit, it is going to be the day I need a sam splint, I often toss a leatherman and phone in the bag too... osprey pack, 2L water, snacks so I will not waste away, shock pump, pump, co2, Topeak kit...

Post a picture of your next bike part or mtb gear on order!

there are a few companies that make an elastomer isolator handle for the hilifts, and they work a treat for keeping the handle from getting floppy, they also have a neoprene boot for the moving head part too.
