    Opinion of Hartshorne

Wow, what a great dialogue my original post has started (or continued!). For Hartshorne in general, I was thinking an of entire overhaul. My dream for Hartshorne would be something like this: 1. Completely new trails that take advantage of the terrain (obviously alot of existing trails...

    Opinion of Hartshorne

So, Hartshorne was my local riding area from 94-05 and I have done more laps around it than anywhere I have ever ridden. I was able to get a ride in on my visit to NJ for the holidays. It has been 6 yrs since I have ridden Hartshorne. So I was super eager and excited to get back to my roots...

    Ellicotteville, NY (U Must Go)

-- If you like very technical but totally ridable singletrack, then this is the place for you. -- About an hour south of Buffalo, NY -- Designated IMBA Epic (truly is epic XC riding) -- About a 5hr loop of 100% singletrack, with more offshoot trails -- Massive amounts of...

    A challenge for Hartshorne riders

I'm sure I couldn't beat your time right now either. I think anything under 50 min is pretty fast.

no stopping - how about the part where you have to go straight through the dismount area in front of the parking lot ? big hills - where exactly are all the big hills in Hartshorne ?

    A challenge for Hartshorne riders

Ok, so I'm not going to be able to get any riding in, this upcoming weekend to NYC. I am sorry to let all of my fans down. I was really looking forward to getting some laps in at Hartshorne for old times sake. Can someone who knows this route get an accurate GPS of it ?

There is one small mistake on that GPS route. Look at my other post for the explanation.

    A challenge for Hartshorne riders

I've never ridden 6 mile but it would be fun to see how good of a time that is. I will definitely try to swing through here and do it on my trip, no promises though. This entire thread was what I was trying to do for Hartshorne.

Awesome that someone finally got out there to try it. The only thing is you should have made a left when you got back to Grand Tour (after coming down the hill on Rocky Point) instead of making the right. Once you get back to Grand Tour there is no more back tracking. Everything else looks...

a message to the a'hole that cut me off in Hartshorne this evening.

Using your diagram, it looks like the Ahole is a Republican and you are the Democrat. Is that correct ?

    A challenge for Hartshorne riders

Rocky Point is the out and back part of the route ... Once your turn onto RP you ride it to the end (to the upper parking lot) and then turn around doubling back ... there is no CW or CCW. Also, there is NO fireroad on the entire route (other than the warm up). That's why I always rode it...

The move to Buffalo was for business and only for a year and half. Yes, Asheville riding was pretty epic and I hate not being there but the riding here is outstanding as well. It's actually ALOT better than NJ. If anyone ever gets the chance to ride Ellicottville .... then by all means DO...

I'm not ignoring Pearl as much as I'm skeptical. I know I don't know him or how fast he is but to do 41:08 on a SS with the gearing he said (33x19) would be pretty tough. It's simply too small of a gear...unless of course he can still create power at a 130 cadence. Hell, he beat my SS time...
