Commencal Meta 29 Trail vs SC Tallboy 3 or ?????

Coming from riding Niner bikes for the last ten years, I am looking for a new trail bike. I have liked the Jet 9 for XC and the WFO 9 for an all trail experience, but am disappointed with Niner's customer service over the last two years. Looking to try something new.

I have not ridden the Commencal or the SC Tallboy. Does anyone have any experience with either? or maybe ridden both? Should I be looking at something different? My budget is about $3k.

Thanks for your time and opinions.

Ibis Ripmo AF. I'm looking for a new bike myself and will be demoing the carbon model over Memorial Day Weekend, if hopefully this stay-at-home madness is over. I've heard and read nothing but good things about this bike. The carbon and aluminum framed versions share the exact same numbers. If I demo it and like it, done deal.

wasn't the carbon version updated to match the aluminum version?

to add to the conversation I don't think the Tall Boy belongs in this convo with 120mm while the ripmo has 160mm and the meta at 160mm. I hear great things from all three but personally I'd be all in the ripmo if I had the fedia(stimulate me$$$).

If you wanted a SC in the conversation it would be a megatower, but hightower seems to be the bike I see the most of on trails but not like I use to.

Where do you usually ride?
Are you looking to replace the two Niners with one new bike?

I now live in Northern Virginia, so I hit Fountainhead, Lake Fairfax, and Wakefield the most. These places are kind of like Ringwood, Stephens, and Lewmo. I am looking for something that is in between the Jet9 and WFO9. Not worried about weight either since I'm 6'2" and 215lbs.

Dude, it’s and easy choice then, Ripmo AF GX build. It comes with DVO suspension, $3k. All do respect, but none of the other bikes here can match the suspension design.

Haven't ridden either, but on spec those are 2 completely different bikes. Meta is higher travel and rowdier, tallboy is more efficient, but still modern

Ripmo AF with DVO is a target for me also at 3k it's hard to beat.
But also wanting to stay all USA as much as possible (like a sqweeb)
Aluminum>Carbon because I want to do right by mother earth
The ripmo is 147mm r 160mm f
If after new car (wife) first time driver car (daughter) + insurance ? leaves enough crumbs I will have something by mid summer. Then get back to the college fund for that new driver lol.

I was in the Harrisonburg area last summer, really enjoyed riding out there. Hoping to get back again this summer. Looks like you’re north of there, so I’m not really familiar with trails by you. But I rented the new Hightower out west and really liked it. I thought it would be a great all around bike as long as your trails aren’t flat and tame. The new tallboy has basically the same geo except less travel. Lots of nice bikes out there, I’ve heard good things about the ripmo.
The current crop of bikes are going have very different geometry than your used to. Especially reach numbers (XL bikes are pushing 500mm of reach). The new tallboy has more aggressive geo than your wfo even at 130mm. But that’s a good thing, and I think whatever you pick you’ll end up riding way more than your current bikes.

What is the travel on these? I'm looking for a 120mm front/back bike. Originally thought SC tallboy but willing to look at alternatives

Hey Sean! How goes it?!Hope you and your family are well!

It goes well. We love the area down here, but do visit Morristown frequently to see family and friends. I am surprised by all the new development going on there. It seemed for years there were hold-ups and now it looks like a free for all.

I hope you and the family are healthy and safe. Take care.

Also check diamondback 5c release can be had around 3500 that's carbon gx fox guide. Pretty well spec.

You also have yt jeffsey norco sight, lots of options.

Y’all are sleepin on Commencal, smh. Look at the spec on the race edition for $3499. Super Delux rear, Pike front, Eagle, DUB crankset, SPANK WHEELESET. Come on. That thing will show up at your door ready to party.

When they go on sale when the new models roll out they have some real sore dick deals, I think I've seen 700 off 3300 dollar bikes. How is there service network since you're so high on them?
