Should a new mountain biker learn to ride on flat or clipless pedals?

The way to unlearn it is to practice unclipping or taking foot off in different situations, flat, front wheel up on something, front wheel lower than rear, etc. over and over and over.

And loosen them all the way to the lowest spring setting. Also, if running SPD's consider the SH-56 "multi release" cleat. I've never used it, I use the standard SH-51 but understand the SH-56 to release more easily in more directions.

Not a hunter... and not much of a fisherman but I thought the purpose of both is to get out of the house and drink beers with a bud?

Many Diawa reels in my fold....and more to come this winter. Shimano is my crossover between biking and fishing and holds my crown for best spinning reel. When Diawa delivers fantastic brakes......I'll reconsider.
