kids' pedals suggestions

My daughter loves to bike. I'm very happy!
However, I noticed her foot slips off the pedal a lot.
She is on 16" wheel bike.

I won a set of these at martys rep night.. I put them on my son's bike, what a difference. He can go uphill much better, no longer gets bounced off the pedals going downhill... Major improvement

I've had good luck with Fyxation Gates Slimline and Welgo B223P on the smaller kids bikes.

Maybe put on some grip tape? Like those on skateboards
Shin strikes would suck with those pins

way back when i recall 1-pc cranks were threaded differently than 3-pc. 1/2" vs 9/16" respectively

Yeah, typically 1/2” but if they are 3 piece cranks, probably 9/16

My daughter uses something similar to what @Matt_ uses. But they are Redline Monster.
She pretty much never slips a pedal. Also when she does they dont rip up her shins

The pins are what makes the pedals work and prevent shin strikes doe

I have these VP001 pedals on my 9 year old's mountain bike.

They are pretty light, slightly smaller and have slightly less aggressive pins than saya VP Vice, but it's still a full size platform pedal. The pins are all grub screws so some could be removed if/as needed. She rides them in Vans and hasn't had any issues with slips, but if she takes one of these to the shin it will leave a mark.

I was going to buy her a set of these little Wellgo m111 pedals, which are more closely aligned with what is on her BMX bike, but since the VPs worked so well I never did.

Either of these can be had for under $50

The composite pedals are great ad have surprising grip.

That being said, once they get worn a bit, they are like ice.

They are a bit hard to find, but I have a set of stolen thermolite bmx pedals , that have grub screws instead of the plastic molded in ones. Best of both worlds

DMR V6 plastic flats. Good grip and plastic so less blood. And cheap and come in lots of colors.
