Chain Length

[MC San Andreas]

I am setting up a new drive train and I am wondering what chain length I need.

Chain rings: Shimano XT 44/32/22
Cassette: SRAM 11-34 9 speed
Rear Derailleur: Shimano XTR M972 Long Cage - Shadow

Do I need to measure the length of the distance from the center of the crankset to the rear axle??

What else do I need to consider??
