Official: 2016 Cycling Goals/2015 Goal Recap Thread

Pearl

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING
It's that time of the year. What are some goals you'd like to hit? Did you meet all of your goals this year?

Trying to get skinny? Go faster? Be faster than Kevin? Ride 100 miles?

you arent even on gchat

I think I may try and go for a long cycling streak again. I'm unsure if I will train for mountain bicycles this year or not.
Check out some of the new trails in the surrounding area.
Do a sweet Blue Ridge Parkway ride.

Granted I did not record all my riding but it ain't much different then what's recorded. No DH stats.
2016 goals, ride more then 2015

All of the above. My goal for this years mileage was 500 and ended up with a smidge over 1000. For next year I guess I'd like to hit 2000 miles, which should be attainable as I have a proper road bike in the stable now. Beating Kevin or being fast isn't really a priority for me as much as personal fitness and overall happiness is. My goals would be something like:
  • 2000 miles in 2016.
  • Lose weight. As long as I'm active, it comes fairly easy to me as long as I'm not downing half a pizza after a ride. Luckily, I can't consume piles of food like I used to.
  • Do a century or two, probably at a bike tour for company and safety.
  • Finally climb Bear Mt. on a bike.

Per last years thread I had planned on gaining weight and starting smoking. I did neither.

I did however ride approximately 3500 miles in 2015 (started tracking in mid-February).

For this year:
- Ride in excess of 6,000 miles
- Finish the fat series in the top 15
- Race the H2H fat series
- Compete in the Bearscat event
- Complete a ride in excess of 130 miles
- Ride back to back centuries

  • 2000 miles in 2016.

I like your goals. I'll shoot for the same. 🙂

This sounds like a great idea so I'd love to do it. Can you make me dinner that night?
Should have a home by June, that would be the time to come down.

You will learn to follow hours and not miles, especially with mountain biking. But you'll see a huge jump riding the Soma! The Bear Mountain ride is an awesome one. The climb isn't steep, just "long" in terms of the other stuff. The views the whole way are awesome. Wood recommend doing over the winter.

Gotta dig deeper than that, Set them goals NOW so you stay on point. Don't fall off the wagon completely.

I would like to lose my gut. But I love burritos and ice cream. Such is life.
Goals.
Keep up the group riding things I did this year. Got me out more. Chimney rock Mondays and running from the cops with @woody Tuesdays.

Go to a few more tail maintence sessions. I was lacking this year.
Go on a road bike ride with @HeavyMetaLance
Avoid riding bikes another year with @davidcarson48
Do more exploring with @soundz

Bikes
Get a longer lower version of my ibis. Then take that bike to creek at least once.
New back tire on my el mariachi. Otherwise that bike is perfect. I should ride it ss more. Sell my china carbon bike? I never ride it.
I think all my bikes need new chains.

Places.
Ride those trails in saratoga springs again when it's dry. They were awesome. But it was damp (lots of mossy rocks). @soundz

Ride nockamixon. Never been there. Looks fun. Will bug @Robin for a tour one day.

Maybe in 2016 I'll put bar tape on my road bike.

Well i wanted to be thinner and get a fat bike....got that backwards.

just short of 2k miles with more than half the rides on the MTB.
missed HOH, and didn't do any long running events, but got in most of the stuff i was aiming for in 2015
looks like 120 rides, so was out a couple times a week on average (which means i rode jan/feb/july and was lazy the rest of the year)
no endurance mtb event - never got to the point to even think about it.

really enjoyed the CR fun monday rides, thanks @woody & @gtluke & @Glenn for leading.

------

2016 goal - as fitness returns, not overdo it and injure myself again.
get to the point where i'm not slowing everyone down...as much!
short track/H2H race or two/couple of off-road duathlons
an endurance mtb race
NYC Marathon in November

Have @skyrokz drop off my barn roof.

I understand the hour thing for sure. I mean, I'll ride Jungle for the ~7 mile loop and feel the same as after a 50 mile city ride. Most of my hours were definitely in the woods this year. I wish Strava could give me the split, but one of my bikes did mountain, road, and CX duties this year so it's pretty hard to figure out unless I go back through my activities. Would be cool to know the ratios of road/mtb and time/mileage.

I thought they close Perkins for the winter, or nah?

So what about this North Carolina road trip to ride with the Pearls?
