That one was a heckle but one more 1st place AND I'M GOING TO MEAN IT!

I stayed a Cat 3 a few races too long because I couldn't win. Wasted time with that one and bummed a few people out I'm sure. Learned my lesson in 3->2 and didn't stick around too long with 2->1.

Cyclocross is a different story, don't go counting upgrade points on me.

From USA cycling MTB:
Cat 2->1: "Five top-five finishes is a mandatory upgrade. Riders may choose to upgrade with two top-five finishes," 15 competitors in the field to make it mandatory which for most of the races here you will never experience so it's up to you to do the right thing when the time comes. Winning is great but if you win every weekend and it's not the highest level of competition is it actually that satisfying?

I'm mostly enjoying your quick progression. I'm just excited to see MTB mike the pro roadie attacking the hills in France. I think that's the only natural progression and I'm getting a little impatient.

Mike, I think you're over thinking this. Calling someone a sandbagger after a race on a cycling forum is gonna throw up a red flag, this applies to anyone, not just you. You ain't the first guy to do this and won't be the last. What you meant and what people percieve you meant can be two different things. If you want to avoid controversy don't call anyone a sandbagger on the internets. If you want a lot of attention call people who beat you in a race sandbaggers.

Thanks - Here is some more obvious information - on this forum and in many other forms of mediums, they make this feature called private message - if a person wanted to reach out and provide some advice or help and truly cared, especially on a faux pas situation, you can use this feature to do so in a private less incriminating, less malicious type of way. OR - in this case, exploit the faux pas publicly in a joking way with all kinds of gif creativity stating "just trying to help". Clearly "Help" is not the intent so I call B.S. How is that for perception - cause that is how it really looks..

Now - you can say I am over-thinking this - Whatever, think what you want... You guys exploiting the faux pas publicly is the epitome of over exaggeration something so trivial.

Overall I know there is a good majority of solid people here and for the few that like to rattle the cage, keep up with your usual silly antics and negative B.S. its nothing we haven't seen time and time again and be prepared to be slapped back with the same thing you dish - cause that is what this is.

NJBA/local races = Cat 123
MAC = Cat 234
NE/Verge = Cat 3

Gonna make a trip up for Gloucester or Providence this year??

I can't race NJ 3's anymore since I was top 3 in the series, so I have to race NJ 123. so it really doesn't matter to me being a 2 or 3... but it looks cooler on the license 😉

we haven't discussed the longer trips, but i would like to do something out of the ordinary for that time of the year :popcorn:

wait @soundz you need to add the popcorn emoticon back in, this is unacceptable.
 
Sorry if that came out wrong mike..I was just listing all of the most comical excuses for not winning races....but for real..It is absolutely impossible to sandbag in cat 2 when you racing career began in cat 3 last year. Discussion over. Not even if you win every race this year, which by the way, I hope you do. Crush the hell out of this year because cat 1 is forever and ever
 
I think you see now that sandbagger has a special meaning here and history beyond your years on the site. Other's have put it much better so not just 2 people.

- Iggy, I appreciate you trying to clarify the sandbagger thing and perception but you missed the point of why I tried to take the time to clarify my sandbagger statement. I actually publicly retracted my sandbagger statement. I get what you're saying and don't want any beef either.
- Utah - No apology needed... if anything, your advice and jokes are well received and my "sandbagger" comment in my write up was an add to your "sandbagger, always the sandbaggers" joke.

Lets recap: Here is why Kev and Pearl are in my sites right now and why my gun is now locked and loaded with the red dot on their foreheads... (you chuckleheads are like those two idiots hiding in the bushes in that biggie song with the red dots on your heads - "OH SHIT" - CLAP CLAP)

Pearl asked a valid question about Far Hills race which setup the assist for Kevin to slam the sandbagger thing back in my face and he didn't even get it right - his facts were wrong which makes him not only look like the usual dickhead but a dickhead that doesn't know what the ef he's talking about.. This was the catalyst. As a result, I decided to take the high road and take this time to publicly retract my sandbagger statement. To add fuel to the fire - Pearl throws out a direct "backpeddler" shot followed by a very passive aggressive comment about trying to help which is total B.S. - Dude's got my phone number, if you wanted to help, you know how to reach me. This was his usual B.S. and today I wasn't hearing it. Again, I take the high road and take the time to clarify the background of my initial "sandbagger" statement. And i wrapped it with a comment about those two chuckle heads making a big deal out of something that already past and is over with.

Now - I was called out a couple weeks ago for being inappropriate and since then, I've made efforts to be positve in this forum. Yet some others still get to dance that line - if they dance the line with me, I'm going to check em. Real simple.

So - real simple gentleman (and I use that term very loosely) @pearl & @stb222 - if your going to fuck with me, I'm going to retaliate and its not going to be with silly little clever gifs.

@pearl - I understand you prefer visual aids over reading for your usual form of communication, so does my 3 year old and I get that... that's typical Neanderthal - way to support my theory with the pic of the dinosaur.

@stb222 - at some point you'll realize even people like me who have thick skin and know you're a good dude will eventually get sick of your dick headed personality traits.

Anyone else want to take a shot?

I guess when I posted how the forum adds pressure, this is a perfect example... The haters are going to hate and jump at any chance to exploit a vulnerability... Luckily - MOST of the people here are good peeps and are supportive and I spent enough time seeing who the haters are and watching how they do it.... Based on that, they ain't shit and it's child's play....

Now about those intervals - Thank you sir, may I have another!!!! I'm learning to smile when the pain takes over and in a sadistic way, I really like it. I do enjoy self mutilation as a form of meditation - add heavy metal and I can really get my torture on.
 
I didn't exactly read through everything but this is starting to resemble more and more the KOC3(2?) thread. Be careful as season progresses those that slacked during the winter will get stronger and stronger. You don't want to get caught napping like I did in my KOC3 career! I can guarantee it will come to bite you in the very important Interweb social life 😉

It's kinda a toss up between Gloucester and Providence, but I think I'm going to say Divine Providence. The venue is amazing, the course is super fun, they put in a ton of features which actually included a jump last year which made the beer garden HELLA DOPE, SON.

If you don't believe me ask @seanrunnette, he made the trip last year. I picked him out of the crowd while I was cross eyed sprinting up a small hill with puke coming out of my ears!

Gloucester's main draw is the venue. The course itself is very fast but nothing too exciting. The standard features are the beer garden stairs, maybe a sandpit and the fastest barriers in cyclocross. I could almost take or leave the course itself but being on the water makes the race like nothing else.

You can't go wrong with either race really. It's New England Holy Week. the energy is crazy.
