I love to bike in the fall.

But today I spent off the bike doing something that most people wouldn't believe happens in NJ.

I was surfing head high+ waves for 3 hours in perhaps the best conditions that NJ can offer.

I hope the pics can do some justice.

Barrels all around.

I am still floating.. What a day!!

Those waves look gorgeous man. I didn't get much surfing in this summer, but I was in Baja last fall. Perfect 5 foot glass.

If you have winter gear we surf all year round.

I was out the other day in a 4/3 with 3mm gloves and 7mm boots.

I was hot.

you need at least a 4/3 now but many guys are overdoing it and going for the 5/4

Keep an eye on Dukestorm.com

Too many miles on the road bike this year. Running skinny and needing the 5mm already. At least the late fall has been producing some swell. Hopefully december throughs out some holiday lines.

Dude, that's an excellent website. Thanks for sharing.

Bookmarked.

It is a double edged sword with the web.

I never get skunked any more but there is usually more guys out.

I would love a ride in a plane on a surf day to find the real unknown spots.

I am sure that there are spots on good days that offer empty waves.

There are a few other sites that together can produce a really good forecast.

I find that 3-4 day is the outer limit for a good prediction. More than that seems to be a guess.

I have been surfing NJ for 10 years and every year I am surprised on what waves we can get.

Although this fall hasn't been super it sure beats the summer.

With the new winter gear it really isn't that bad in the cold. My real secret is my coleman camping shower filled with really hot water.

Nothing like taking a 105 degree shower in the street when it is 30 degrees out.

I just fill up the old Poland Spring 1-Gal with hot water, right until the point when the thing starts to melt and then burry in my towel and it is at perfect shower temp after the typical hour/hour-half winter surf sess.

I only surf in the summer, but if I lived down the shore, I'd surf in the fall too and probably winter. But since I'm on the mountain, I snowboard in the winter instead...oh, and bike too, this will be my first winter biking if I actually get this boot off.

The Coleman looks sweet, now just got to keep the shop groms from filling it with beer and whatnot

Great shot!

I have been rocking the xcel cosmonot cap with the 4mm suit.

I put on the 5-4 the other day and took it off after an hour.

I have also been using the 1mm Xcel glove which I love.

Strangely I am using 7mm boots.

When there is snow on the baech I always use the 5mm.

I must be a pussi.
