Is NJ good for road cycling?

I'm thinking of taking the plunging and buying my first road bike. The question is: Is NJ prime for road cycling? I know it has many trails for the MTB'ers but what about the roadies? Are there hills to practice sustained climbs longer than several minutes? One of my old roommates is a roadie who moved here via San Francisco, and I can remember him mentioning how much NJ terrain was lacking. Can someone enlighten me?

NJ has everything.
It depends on where you live and how far you want to go to get the riding you want.

You want sustained climbing? Skyline Drive from Oakland through Ringwood and back and High Point come to mind.
