Star gazing

I don't have any equipment but what about this 6 planet alignment thing?

you can see the planets now. i think tuesday night was supposed to be the "best" night... but it was overcast here and had just snowed late in the afternoon so i didn't get to go to big rock to check it all out. you should be able to see Mars, Venus and Jupiter (and the moon) with the naked eye.

i may try to get up to big rock on friday night or something.

i have the sky map app and i was trying to figure out if any of the faint dots in the sky were the other planets. good to know i did actually see saturn. 🙂

Yeah. Mercury, Uranus, Neptune can't been seen without a telescope

Wow this looks amazing! I never thought we can get pictures like this without hiking to the dark skies or big ass equipment.

While I don't have insight on equipment, if you feel like taking a road trip to Western Pennsylvania, I highly recommend Potter County Stargazing Tours and also visit a few of the dark parks in the area. The guy that does the tour is incredible, and really shares a lot of knowledge. We did it with about 10 other people and he offered to stay out as late as we wanted. It was a perfect night visibility wise, and we made it to about 1am when it got too cold for my daughter. I would certainly go back and do it again.

this is an object that is visible with naked eye, so easier to shoot and get good photo
