Specialized selling bikes direct to consumer - new news?

What Shimano components would I find on Amazon ? I couldn't find a 12 speed XT cassette, of shifter and the only derailleur available is like 2x the regular price (or maybe just the new MSRP)...
If its not Amazon , it’s competitive cyclist or Jenson. They seem to have it all in stock.

Wonder why people don't care about Shimano selling straight to Amazon while our orders are almost 2 years out? Literally the whole Industry is waiting for parts to deliver bikes to everyone everywhere and Shimano bypassed the whole system for Amazon. Zero backlash.
That writing was always on the wall. I have not ridden Shimano since 1988 😉

Yes, we know this is why all shop peeps hate shimano. If you step back even further, when the public was able to buy shimano cheaper than shops and even further back when the euro mail order had shimano for 1/2 the price of anyone in the USA.

One word sums that up: Sale. SRAM never goes on sale and in many ways is an inferior product when you are talking about anything parts below their top tier. 11 speed XT cassette for $60 bucks, like what? Or I can but a GX cassette for $120 and it will last half as long.

I bought my XT Cassette there.
An XT? The only 12 speed Shimano cassette I can find on Amazon right now is a SLX - listed as "currently unavailable" with no idea when it will be. I do see some brands I've never heard of... and a lot of cassettes that aren't 12 spd.

This is kinda what I'm getting at. At the end of the day everyone's high horse has no legs.

Specialized prolly bought all the Shimano cassettes for the bikes they’re about to start selling tomorrow.

We were specific focused on a specific evil S here, let’s stay on topic 😂.

Btw, why doesn’t your OG stumpy have a Paul derailleur?

When was the last time you tried to place an order for an XT 12 speed level component? It can't be too recently. You can place a pre-order with no expected delivery time...thank you but no thank you.

Pretty much the same thing if you're a Shimano dealer.

I just got a chain delivered. Used this amazing search tool called “Google”. It’s amazing. You can find anything.
Wow. It's a brand new world full of opportunities now that you disclosed it to me. Thank you!

You can find components here and there, but for example the Colorado Cyclist link provided by @stb222 for the 12 speed XT cassette did not pop up in the search I did after your initial comment, and I tried to use a very broad search criteria such as 'Shimano cassette 12 speed'. I recently ordered a set of big ride DT Swiss hubs I had been trying to order locally and on major on-line retailers for almost a year for example. I just don't think that chasing parts on the internet can be considered an acceptable strategy.

I was trying to find an analogy too, not sure that's really apples to apples.

Problem for mega breweries trying to soak up craft beer, their clientele is extremely in tune with who knows who and the 3 tier system can limit the damage AB InBEV or Miller-Coors can do to the craft beer segment. They bought up a handful of craft breweries 5-10 years ago and 200 new breweries replaced them immediately on shelves. Blue Point, Elysian, Breckenridge etc. sales all tanked the minute they were sold and were replaced by the new local place that got a canning line. Not so easy to start a new bike brand, unfortunately.

Are MTBers/cyclists as self righteous about who makes their bikes as craft beer nerds? Feeling less so.

I pesce grossi mangia il piccini
Or something like that.
