Frozen at Spring Lake

Also frozen at New Market Pond

Any civil engineers in here? New sidewalk extends out like that every 100' or so. Doesn't line up with house entrances or any surrounding structure.
View attachment 150477
sidewalks next to curb need to be either min of 6' wide or 5' wide (w/ 2' of space between curb and edge of sidewalk). One of the exceptions as shown above is if the sidewalk is less than 5' wide a 5'x5' passing space needs to provided every 200'.

For all intents and purposes, @Piston Honda really knocked out the competition. Congrats! And kudos to @goodvibe for coming in second.

It is notable that the one two woman in the comp were both in the top 10 for January.

Take note, @Piston Honda cannot win the February and March milestone categories, but can still go for the overall...

0 points - 49 minutes moving time, 2 hours of elapsed time (spent about 45 minutes getting one of my neighbors unstuck, and the rest of the not moving time catching my breath)...too late of a start for the dark bonus...snowing like hell...is there a bonus for getting cars unstuck and breaking trail in the woods?

will get out later with my snowshoes to properly "groom" the local woods...absolutely brutal hike-a-biking this morning! i have no idea how @jimvreeland finds the fortitude to do this for like 12 hours a day across the alaskan wilderness!

i guess i might just pedal around for 11 minutes to get to the hour for today too...will update if i get around to that!

One of the windiest rides I've done down here - 25 mph sustained from the west, gusts to 30. Going directly into the wind it took me 400W to hold 20 mph, in the opposite direction, 300W to hold 30 mph! And I snagged a KOM on a segment with over 1400 attempts - suck it Kev!

Speaking of Kev, I wondered what these things were - traffic cams. Kind of a strange place to put them (there's another one facing the other lane nearby) - the road twists here.

Spent about 2 hours breaking trail around the park for about 30 minutes of moving time. The one side of the loop got blown in every lap and I'd have to start over. Then I did a loop around the block, which took an hour 😂😂😂

Snow has gotta be close to a Foot now.

Maybe now you get why it takes 30 hours to go 100 miles.

Kinda sucks for the kids having virtual school today. It really ruins the fun of a snow day.

After cleaning the driveway had enough time before it got dark to do a ride around the neighborhood

They are traffic counters. They have a pretty slick software that counts vehicles from video. It can do car/truck/ pedestrian classification. The problem is, you have to use them for the processing and while it is cheap, you basically only make money installing these, which is peanuts. Their bread and butter is intersection counting, two cameras to count 1 intersection, but these look like it may be through movements.

0 points!...2 hours moving time, 1 point dark bonus, 1 point snow bonus, -4 points no bike deduction!

regardless, a very small portion of the local edison trails are hopefully going to be somewhat rideable tomorrow am...though some trails were already getting blown over by the time i was coming out of the woods so....

came across this car in my neighborhood...this dude had the foresight to flip up his wipers...but just left the car in the street to get buried!

A little late to get up as I knew conditions would be tough going and wasn’t particularly excited about it. Hit the canal, but it was a no go other than a short section someone had plowed with a quad. So I worked in a nice tread and got up to 17 mph and that was about as fun as it was Going to get.

went over to the local sled hill and fell in the parking lot while dismounting and fell on top of my bike, lol

The roads were hard pack with about 2” on top, but I can only ride around the snowy roads so much...
