The JORBA-Wharton 2016/2017 Season Night Rides and Trail work Schedule (and WSF Batsto area MTB Trail map) is now linked on the JORBA-Wharton page... http://www.jorba.org/wharton

Our first scheduled trail work day is Saturday October 8 2016. Current plan for the day calls for clipping the face slappers and trail tread repair on the first mile, clearing nicks, removing silt, and firming up the trail where it needs it. Meet at 9:00 in the Batsto Visitor Center parking lot near the trailhead. Tools, work gloves and water provided. Bring your favorite work shoes, a sense of humor, and maybe a snack. We'll be back in the lot before 12:30.

The first Jersey Devil Night Ride of the season is Saturday October 29 2016. Can't wait for the good times. :)

Uncle Pibbles and me are planning on pedalling up the east side of the PBT this Sunday. Clearing out most or all of the blowdowns we see. And prob'ly clipping back the most annoying face slappers along the way. RSVP or show up near the trailhead at 10:00 am. Mentioning but not detailing all the usual verbiage about helmets, hydration, and humor being required. uhhuh.

Uncle Pibbles and me laid axe into four, maybe five (details are hazy at this point) blowdowns up the east side of the PBT today today. And clipped back the most annoying face slappers on the way. Was nice to see the usual folks along the way, the Shamong crew, Kevin A, and all. Was maybe a mistake to order a 1/2 lb bacon burger w/ fries and pint of mac 'n cheese for a recovery meal on the way home.

Weather permitting, next work day is Saturday 10/8, 9:00 am. We'll be working the first mile, clearing drainage nicks and clipping back the occasional slapper.

Thanks!

The 08037 TWC forecast is calling for intermittent showers all day Saturday. The 10/8/16 trail work is cancelled. See you at the October night ride or the next trail work on 11/12/16.
Thanks!

Much thanks to someone, presumably KevinA, for riding ahead and taking care of several recent blowdowns. This allowed Pibbles and me to resolve most of this coming winter's issues, before they become issues, on our stop-n-chop ride today. Which is a good thing. :)

A belated big thank you to John, Dave, and Moray42 for helping with the scheduled trail work on November 12. Many of the drainage nicks on the first mile of trail were cleared out, and several face slappers clipped back. Maintaining the drainage nicks is one of two major items that help prevent the trail from turning to sugar sand. Thanks guys! :)

Another thanks to sj_john and pibbles for helping on the quickly added ad-hoc work day last Sunday. We moved a short section of the trail to the south, out of the *stump dump* area. That section of trail is now a little more safe, a little more aesthetically pleasing, a little longer, and a little more swoopy. (Expect that new-trail spongy flat-tire feeling to dissipate with traffic in the coming months. No sniveling please. :). )

The current TWC forecast for the 3/25/17 evening ride looks good. 50 degrees and partly cloudy.

Other then that, all the usual. Meet near the trailhead. Wheels out at 6:00 pm, or maybe 6:15. Back before 8:30. Casual conversational pace around the inner loops. Helmet and light required. Bringing a hydration pack or bottles, and an off center sense of humor are highly recommended.

The WSF staff allows JORBA members and other WSF trail volunteers to meet after dark in the Batsto Visitor Center parking lot for this ride. Please do not park in this lot after hours w/o prior permission. You will be visited by the Park Police.

Weather cut the March ride short, but still good times, even though none of us could remember the lyrics to any of Boxcar Willie's songs.

The next, last evening ride of the season is 4/29/17. I'll be wearing the Stihl Timbersports cap that Pibbles recently gave me. For good luck of course. (foto belo)

We're likely to post future unscheduled ad-hoc trail work days in response to passing storms and such. If a storm passes 'n thrashes and we post a plea for help, please feel free to come out and help. Or not.

Fun evening ride on April 29th. The temps made it feel mor like June 29.

Much thanks to all that showed up for this season's evening rides and trail work days!

We'll post up a plea for help if any summer storms shut down the trails. Thanks!
