Does anyone know why this park does not allow mountain biking?

I was there yesterday geocaching and it has some great trails but there are signs posted "no bikes"

It would be an awesome ride!

thanks!

the state closed most of the trails to MTB in the early 90's. I used to love riding there in the ravines back then. They have a few open trails in the east end of the park, but they are not that exciting..

Word on the street is hat the current head ranger is ok with bikes. Of the 30 plus times I have ridden there, I have never been told to not be on the trails, hell, I used to rarely come across anyone. The are very few trails that actually the have the no bike signs.
