So it looks like time of year to grovel for more money. This year, my company is flying me out to Seattle for Bike MS: Deception Pass. Then a month later, I will be joining Chandra's team in NYC.

Thought I'd do an update while I'm at it. Over the long weekend, I went on a bike packing trip to the Hamptons. First day, I found myself solo after 2 bailed on me midway. First night I camped on the beach at Heckscher State Park after riding 50ish miles. Tents are for losers:

I would not recommend camping here. Too much chance of getting caught. There's not much camping options in LI until you get way out East, so plan accordingly.

Next day, I was joined by a group that took the LIRR and met me about 75 miles from our destination.

Then we all took the train back on Sunday.
 
some of your mates are "touring" and not "packing" as evidenced by the panniers.
Regardless looks fun. Have you tried the north shore? We used to sleep on the beaches after a long night of KTV action in Flushing.

I'm sure there are places, but hard to find via bike in the dark.
